Fever-meds for comfort or let the body fight?

My DS (17 mos.) has been spiking a fever for the past 2 days, 102-103. I don't like to medicate for fever unless it's for comfort. I'd rather the body use the fever to kill off the virus/bacteria.

I've given him a couple of doses because he does seem so uncomfortable. Everytime the med wears off, the fever spikes. I try to let it run it's course for a while but he's miserable. I want him to be comfy but I don't want to prolong the illness by continuously bringing the temp. down.

What choice do you all make?

I use natural methods to help with the discomfort and let the fever run it's course. It's not a one or the other thing for me.

Nutritional support has done a lot to lessen the intensity of my kids' illnesses. Works for me too, actually. For us, the first choice is lots of vitamin C, as much as they can handle before they get diarrhea. I've only really _had_ to do more than that a handful of times (my son gets sick a lot, so a handful of times is a low percentage ).
