can I pick up my cast on stiches and add?

I am finishing a blanket, and I now wish there was more border seed stitch at the bottom.... When I finish at the top, can I put the cast ons back on my needle and knit backwards?
Thanks for any advice

You technically can, but there will be a seam. It's not possible at this stage in your blanket to add stitches on the cast on edge seamlessly or beautifully. Sorry.

That's ok! There are other imperfections because i used cheap acrylic yarn which I will never do again....
Thank you though! now I can finally finish

I don't think it will look terrible though.. I knit hats for my kids and picked up at the cast on to make ear flaps and it is not very noticable at all. I don't know if it matters the cast on- I used long tail and just picked up the loops. Good Luck!

This might work too, but if you don't need it to be seamless it may be more trouble than it's worth.
