Ads on Blogs...

So I guess the writing forums are closed, so I hope this is the right place to post my question...
I've recently begun to blog on Blogger and have signed up for Google AdSense. My question is, what can I do if I'm morally opposed to an ad that Google puts on my blog? I blog about my family and kids and AP stuff, but I noticed an ad for the Sleep Sense program (which I'm not exactly a fan of). Is there anything I can do about it? Or do I just have to take the bad with the good?

Hmm...I'm not sure if you can opt out with Google. But, I use BlogHer and I can opt out with them. I also do better as far as earnings go with BlogHer than I did when I used adsense.

BlogHer was running an ad on my blog a few months ago that I was opposed to. I e-mailed them and it was gone in a few hours.

I don't think you can opt out. You might check out the blog www.kellythekitchenkop.com. She has a thing on there about why she no longer runs google ads (moral opposition to some ads and unable to control them).

I don't know if this will help you but ... if you put Amazon.com product on your blog Google will match add's text with it. It's funny but it worked for me. You can maybe use this to filter Google adds? Just an idea, tho

This is exactly what I was going to come an ask today. I am in the contemplative stages of building business blog and I am wondering if I can pick who advertises on my blog or at least ban advertisers that I'm opposed to.

One option is also to go to your Adsence Account -> AdSense Setup -> Competitive Ad Filter, and filter out adds you don't like

Since you're not allowed to click on your own ads to see what the URL is (since it isn't always listed properly in the display view), you can right click on the ad and then left click on copy link/copy url/copy address (depends on browser and operating system) and then paste that into notepad/wordpad/textedit.

You'll be able to see the URL near the end of the string of text that you paste. That is the URL you want to enter.

Also, if you see sleepsense.net/abc you can block the whole domain by putting in sleepsense.net

Make sure you put it in all the tabs - adsense for feeds, adsense for content, etc because each one uses their own competitive ad filter list.
