Too much fiber

Thread Starter
I've had terrible constipation, bloating and tummy aches the past few days, realizing that I've been taking in way over 60 grams of fiber a day this entire week. I've just been trying to clean out my fridge and cupboards, which have consisted of: lots of quinoa, black beans, lentils, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, grapefruits, avocados, flaxseeds, almonds and almond butter, Ezekiel bread, oatmeal, etc. I'm in so much pain I can't sleep, even after taking gobs of probiotics, enzymes, apple cider vinegar, kombucha, and magnesium the past few days. Has anyone else ever experienced this? It sucks that all of my favorite foods are so high in fiber! I love raw dairy and grass-fed meats, but this past week I haven't stocked any of those foods because of lack of funds. Any advice - something I haven't tried yet???

That can absolutely happen. I ate beans 1 day last week, quinoa another day, and ate high-fiber greens most of the week b/c we have so many of them growing. Yesterday, my poop was harder than usual and it took awhile to work through. Fiber bulks up your stools and makes them harder for your intestines to squeeze out. (The exception is that after we are used to a high-fiber diet, our intestines stretch out and may need the bulk). Dead bacteria should make up 1/2 of your stool volume, so try upping the probiotics. You could also take sodium ascorbate to bowel tolerance to try to get the blockages out. You could try eating very high fat today, too.

Yes, magnesium (don't forget epsom salt baths!), sodium ascorbate, and lots of fat (like unskimmed bone broth) - a bunch of bone broth always works for me!

It got so bad I had to drink liquid magnesium citrate once (after having an emergency cat scan) on doctor's orders after a week of pain. Don't do that. Try anything!
