Do you sing love songs to your DC?

Thread Starter
I'm just wondering what love songs people sing to their little ones, actual lyrics or adapted lyrics This is the one I sing to my little love:

Good morning beautiful how was your night
Mine was wonderful with you by my side
And when I open my eyes and see your sweet face
It's a good morning beautiful day

I don't think she's ever heard it sung by anyone but me. Maybe I should let her listen to a recorded version someday!

My song for my son is Amazing Grace, though we are Atheists so it has been somewhat modified, lol.

AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND THAT SAVED A WRETCH LIKE ME
I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW IM FOUND WAS BLIND BUT NOW I SEE
WHEN WEVE BEEN HERE TEN THOUSAND YEARS
BRIGHT SHINING AS THE SUN
WEVE KNOWN LESS DAYS TO SING "JORDANS"(INSTEAD OF GODS ) PRAISE
THAN WHEN WE FIRST BEGUN

And for my daughter Our special song is Could I have this dance by Anne Murray, it's really beautiful

I'll always remember the song they were playin',
The first time we danced and I knew,
As we swayed to the music and held to each other,
I fell in love with you.

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I'll always remember that magic moment,
When I held you close to me.
As we moved together, I knew forever,
You're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I sing all sorts of songs to my kids, and when they were really little I put together CDs of love songs for them, a different group of songs for each of the kids. Stuff like "Danny's Song," "You are the Sunshine of My Life," "Whenever I See Your Smiling Face," "In My Life," and lots of others.

A friend of mine in college once got a mix tape in the mail from her parents, and she was all teary that they had included a special song they used to sing to her when she was little on the tape. I want my kids to have that association with music from me.

"You Light Up My Life" is my love song to my babies

Yes, I sing love singing to them. I sing this old time song to my DD, but change the name from Katie to Chloe.
C-C-C-Chloe. Beautiful Chloe. You're the only g-g-g-girl that I adore. When the m-m-m-moon shines, over the cow shed, I'll be waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door.
I sing, "I love you, baby," to both of my kiddos.

ETA: I also sing the, "I love You, Forever," song to my DC.

I'll love you forever.
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.

I like to sing this one to Nate:

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the boy you love and hold him tight
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Yes I do! It's an old jazz song, but my mom used to sing it to me when I was a baby and she heard it on a Bell Canada (Telephone company) commercial. It goes:

All I do is dream of you the whole night through,
With the dawn I still go on and dream of you.
When skies are grey,
when skies are blue,
Morning, noon and nighttime too;
All I do is dream of you, the whole day through.

(I looked it up online one day and found there are are other verses - with seasons and such - but I don't remember them)

I sing "Annie's Song" (john denver) and you are my sunshine. DS is 5 1/2 moths and he loves when I sing these particular songs (along with a special lullaby I sing to him).

Me too- Annie's Song!

And I'm such a dork, it almost always chokes me up a little.

DD gets "Good Morning Beautiful' from both dh and I. DS's "song" has always been "At the Foot of the Cross" it was just a favorite when I was pregnant and calmed him as a baby. These days he'd rather have me sing the alphabet song to him.

I sing lots of love songs to my DS. DH and I both sing "SON"shine on My Shoulders quite a bit. After all our SON is the light of our life. My Dad used to sing it to me as a child, too.

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy

sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry

sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely

sunshine, almost always - makes me high

if i had a day that i could give you

i'd give to you a day just like today

if i had a song that i could sing for you

i'd sing a song to make you feel this way

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy

sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry

sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely

sunshine, almost always - makes me high

if i had a tale that i could tell you

i'd tell a tale sure to make you smile

if i had a wish that i could wish for you

i'd make a wish for sunshine all the while

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy

sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry

sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely

sunshine, almost always - makes me high

Alicia Keys- If I Ain't Got You
Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game
Some people think that the physical things
Define what's within
And I've been there before
But that life's a bore
So full of the superficial

[Chorus:]
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, Yeah

Some people search for a fountain
That promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that's the only way to prove you love them
Hand me the world on a silver platter
And what good would it be
With no one to share
With no one who truly cares for me

[Chorus:]
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, you, you
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, yeah

[Outro:]
If I ain't got you with me baby
So nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing
If I ain't got you with me baby

Erykah Badu- Ye Yo (Yeyo means mother in Maasai, so this is really a mama-baby love song)

Ye yo, ye yo, ye yo, ye yo
(Help me)
Ye yo, ye yo, ye yo, ye yo...

Sometimes,
Sometimes I get so lonely, lonely, lonely
I feel all by myself up here
That's when I take a minute
To re-evaluate things
All of the things I think are special
Oooh like
When you wake up in the morning
And you see the morning sun
And you need to know the world is on your side
Who do you run to?
Who can you turn to?
Then the evening comes to greet you
You need someone to hold you close
And you feel the need to rest your aching mind
Who can you run to?
Who can you turn to?
Well see the sun's in the east and the moon reflects
Like the knowledge and wisdom I manifest
If you wanna go to heaven lay up on my breast
I'm ye yo, your ye yo
I say the sun's in the east and the moon reflects
Like the knowledge and wisdom I manifest
If you wanna go to heaven lay up on my breast
I'm ye yo, your ye yo
Ye yo, ye yo, ye yo.

I love you so much
I love you so much
I can't even tell you how much I love you
You're special to me
You're special to me
I want you I need you a part of my life
I love you I love you I love you
I love you I love you I love you
I love you so much
I love you so much
I can't even tell you how much I love you

I like to get to the point and not remember a lot of words. My mom sang me this.

Well, I don't know if they're love songs I guess... but I sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and a handful of other songs during bedtime. My kids (esp my 2yr old) can now sing it with me word for word, which is adorable. They recently fell in love with the movie Annie, so I also sing "Tomorrow". Other songs I sing are... "Your Song", "Goodnight Sweetheart" (edited lyrics), "What a Wonderful World" and a few others.

I recorded Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which their dad plays for them when they're spending the night with him.

We sing "My Funny Valentine" to our funny Valentine, but change the lyrics so they're a bit more complimentary.

My funny Valentine, sweet comic Valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are cute-able
So indisputable
And you're my favorite work of art
And your figure's pretty neat
And your mouth is super sweet
When you open it to squeak (hey, she's not even a month old)
You're so smart!
Don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay, funny Valentine, stay
Each day is Valentine's day

The original is very Sonnet 130ish.

I used to sing Elton John's "Your Song" while I rocked my little guy to sleep in his Maya Wrap.

I couldn't sing any "real" lullabies or even You Are My Sunshine, as they'd make him cry without fail. :-)

When DD was small I often sang her the chorus of Danny's Song:

Quote:
Even though we ain't got money
I'm so in love with ya honey
Everything will bring a chain of love
In the mornin' when I rise
Bring a tear of joy to my eyes
And tell me everything's gonna be all right
DP was in grad school and I was *supposed* to go back to work when she was 2 weeks old and just.... couldn't. So we decided I would stay home indefinately and we really didn't have money, but she really did bring joy to our lives (her middle name is Joy in fact, decided on after her birth).

My babies are "grown" ( they are 8 & 11) but I love the Kimya Dawson song "I love you sweet baby" and I sang it to my nephew when I was caring for him recently. It is *very* AP and I wish it had been written when my babies were babies.

Quote:
The first thing in our list of things to do
Is to wake up right next to you
Second thing that we have planned
Is to kiss both of your hands

Third thing that we'll do today
Is look you in the eye and say
I love you sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything

Then we're gonna change you
Then we're gonna feed you
Then we're both play peek-a-boo
Then we're gonna read to you

Then you have more milk and have some water
And we'll smile at you and tell you we're so glad that you're our daughter
Then you'll fall asleep on daddy's lap
We'll watch MacGyver while you take a nap

When you wake up we have more plans
Say good morning baby and kiss your hands
Then you're gonna make a pee
In your little green potty

Then we're gonna eat our lunch
Mash apricots for you to munch
Then you're gonna nurse again
Then we're gonna call our friends

Then we'll dump out all your toys
Singin', dancing, make some noise
Then we're gonna take a walk
Down the street to the park

We'll play on the see-saw, play on the slide
You'll get tired and rub your eyes
Then we'll go home for more nursing and sleeping
Bouncing and nursing and waking and peeing
Crawling and bouncing and dancing and hitting
Nursing and peeing and kisses and seeing

You're an amazing human being
You're an amazing human being
You're an amazing human being
You're an amazing human being

Then we'll all cuddle in our bed
You'll nurse to sleep, we'll kiss your head
Good night sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything
Good night sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything

The first thing in our list of things to do
Is to wake up right next to you
Second thing that we have planned
Is to kiss both of your hands

Third thing that we'll do today
Is look you in the eye and say
I love you sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything

I love you sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything
I love you sweet baby, I love you sweet baby
I love you more than anything
