Aww, Perfume is one of my favourite novels. I think it would make more sense if you had read the book first. Not something I pictured coming off well in a film, though it was still intriguing to me. To each his or her own!
Little known fact: "Scentless Apprentice" by Nirvana is about that novel.

I loved the book, too, but you're absolutely right: I can't see it being a terrific movie. It was even an unusual book!
It's making sense to me that it was originially a book. I think Tom Twyker is a good director but maybe some subjects, and this is one of them, just don't translate to film.
I mean that scene when Grenouille is to be executed and everyone starts taking off their clothes and making out? It's just embarassing
I saw Perfume and while I can't say that I loved it, it was weird and kind of fascinating. Think I'm gonna read the book. Also, I totally agree with mami to 3 @ Avatar. The visuals were cool but when I think back to seeing the movie, all I think about is the boring overdone plot. Nothing stuck with me, it was so typical. Blech!
It's seriously one of my favorite books. Wasn't super crazy about movie version. The ending scene is better explained in the book, and it makes a lot of sense as a natural plot progression. I could see it being kind of out of nowhere in the movie.
Octopus was the worst movie I've ever seen. I LOVE cheezy B sci-fi/horror movies. This is my FAVORITE genre, but I couldn't make it through this movie. I turned it off.
