Our contract is up in June. I only use my cell phone to talk to DH and those minutes are free because they're cell phone to cell phone minutes. We both don't use all of the minutes available to us yet we still pay the same price every month. We're wasting money. DH uses his cell phone a lot more than I do but not enough that we go over our minutes or use them all. I am thinking we should get rid of my phone and perhaps get a pre paid phone or a separate really cheap phone just for me. We have Verizon and Verizon has pre paid phones with verizon to verizon minutes. I do send text messages on my phone but I can live without that. Any suggestions for how to deal with this? TIA.

We switched to prepaid over a year ago. We have Virgin mobile because they let us keep our numbers. We are required to add $20 every 90 days to keep our service. We like to have cell phones, but we mostly just call each other. DH will call me on his way home, for example. We have terrible signal at home so we need our land line. This is a good compromise for us.

We have used Virgin prepaid for 6 years and are very happy with it. I had the plan where I had to put the $20 on every 90 days and that worked great until I had some new phone meetings come up (4x month for 1+ hour each). I had to add some more time and it was cheaper to do it with a different plan ($30/month). So you can switch to more time/cheaper rate if you need to in the future.

Well...
how much do you pay now? how many minutes do you have? how long was your contract? What do you want to pay? what type of plan are you looking for? Do you still have a land line or are you all cell? |
We pay about $85 every month, we have unlimited verizon to verizon minutes, free nights and wekeends and a certain number of text messages which I can live without. Our contract was two years long but will be ending in June.
I think no more than $50 a month would be a good number. We still have a landline and since I am home during the day I use this most often. Thank you and thanks for the other replies as well.

we had verizon, tooo - for two years. Iw ould never get it again. RIght now we are using a prepaid virgin mobile (!5 every 3 months to keep it active), and I just really only use it for emergencies. I hated verizon, because you couldn't roll over unused minutes.
