unformed icky BM in toddlers...?

My toddler eats very well - a lot some days! But this is not unexpected since she is nearly weaned due to my pregnancy. However, instead of having more formed BM's, it is quite the opposite. It is really gross and unformed, stinky. Is this a sign of an allergy or? Otherwise she has no rashes or any other indication of any issue whatsoever. This is putting a hamper on any 'diaper free' time...

She pees just fine if I put her on her toilet insert, but I don't know how to get her back to pooping on there, as she doesn't signal me at this point. I know part of it is the age (19 months...and she only started walking after 16 mo).

Her older sister was pretty much out of diapers full time by now, but we've had some distractions with moving and morning sickness! I want to work harder at it before baby comes in June though.

Any thoughts?

kind regards,

I've heard from other moms that toddler poop is just gross in general. That its often very soft, unformed and smelly. I experienced that with my son around the time he turned 2. It was unpleasant for us both because he hated having to get his bum practically scrubbed to get the poop off. I started telling him that if he didn't want me to have to wipe his bum so much, then he could put his poop in the potty. He (and I) were much happier when he did that. For awhile, it was okay with us for him to poop in the little potty downstairs but it started smelling really bad. When I was tired to smelling it downstairs and needing to dump it pretty much immediately, I told him it was time to always poop in the toilet. So glad that he's doing that now!

And that he's learned to not use the entire roll of toilet paper to wipe his bum...

Now he uses the cloth wipes. I'm so proud.

Totally normal. I used to work daycare w/ ones and twos and, yeah, it's friggin nasty. DD always poops in the toilet & I always look at it & it is usually soft. Makes me SO GLAD that it is in the toilet!!!! I chalk it up to their immature digestive systems

I also agree that it's PROBABLY normal. My almost 17 month old has had solid poops now for quite some time, but every time she cuts a tooth it turns into a gross sloppy mess (incase that's happening to yours right now).
