Cervix location/position

I'm trying to figure out charting my cervical changes, I'm not doing well here. But something that is really baffling me is the location of my cervix. I'm positive that I'm feeling the cervix but it seems alot shallower than I expected, somedays I'm only in just past my first knuckle, and never father than my second. I expected it to be much deeper because whenever someone else is in there poking around in there it feels like they're trying to grab my tonsils. Is it because I'm not laying down when I'm checking it?

And hi/low position is not something I'm noticing, it's been more of a left/right migration rather than an up/down one. I remember when I went to the clinic for my IUI for my son, the nurse had trouble because the opening was to the right (or maybe the left, I can't quite remember which way it was pointing). I've never been told I have a tilted uterus or anything so I'm not sure what to make of this.

Thx for any info or thoughts you can provide.

I think different positions for checking make a difference how deep it feels. I check from a squatting position and its very shallow for me too, around my first or second knuckle. I'm new to charting so I don't have too much insight to offer on good ways to notice high/low migration since I haven't noticed that yet. However I have seen pictures at Beautiful Cervix and elsewhere where the cervix migrates right or left throughout the month.

I'm also interested in hearing from more experienced ladies about this.

The position of your cervix can change throughout the day (and with your position), so it's a more trend-based way of figuring anything out than a good indicator of anything on a day by day basis.

If you check your cervix in a similar position (like squatting, or standing w/a leg up on something), daily, throughout your cycle you should see a trend. Towards the beginning and end of my cycle and can usually feel my cervix pretty easily, but right around ovulation, it might be a full finger length in.

Mine is almost always at least 1/2 a finger in, usually a full finger. I think we're all just different!

Can you feel the opening?

My cervix is usually less than a finger length, maybe about a finger length at ovulation. Also, I notice mine rises when I'm aroused.
Don't worry about it...everyone is sooooo different!

Man, most of the time I can hardly reach mine! It's almost never "low" (I usually go with "medium" on FF because once or twice it's been REALLY low, so I know it can go lower). When it's medium I can usually tell if it's firm/soft or closed/open, but when it's high I usually can't even find it so I don't know.

I'm curious, from what position do you ladies usually check?

Sitting on the toilet (sorry if TMI), after washing my hands of course. Standing, it's impossible to feel, and squatting, I feel like I might break my wrist.
