help me stop the madness! Happy Heinys mini one-size for NB???

I've been sifting through soooo much info about diapers I think I've burned out more than a few brain cells. And I've started to drive my DH crazy...after telling him about these Happy Heinys I'm looking at he said something like, "but I thought you already decided on those furry cheeks...or kissy bums...you know the ones with the all-in-one organic snuggly gussets?"

Anyhoo- I'm considering buying a bunch of Happy Heiny Mini One-size diapers for our coming babe. I wanted to go straight to a one-size but after reading so much about how one-size diapers rarely fit newborns well, I thought these seemed a good option. But I haven't found many reviews on them.

Has anyone used these? Good points/ bad points? Know where to get a good deal on them? Is there a better alternative?
Help me end this diaper madness!

Thanks in advance for your wise input!

I think one possible bad point is the cost. You'll be changing a newborn very frequently so a recommended stash at the beginning is 24-36 dipes (depending on how often you want to wash). 36 pocket dipes would be pretty pricey and you would be betting that they would work well for your baby. They look nice though and personally I would like to have some pockets for outings and stuff when they would be more convenient, just not sure how you will like them as the whole stash.

Also, I'd do a search to see how they are at NB poop containment. I think that's one of the reasons prefolds/fitteds are often preferred, because you have two points to prevent leakage - the affixed prefold or gussets of the fitted, and then the elastic in the cover also.

My dh had her 4th baby Dec 1, she uses a mic of fitteds/covers and aio's mostly that are xs. Her baby is about 11 lbs now. He is still in most of them.
A trim fitting onesize diaper that does fit newborns is the wahmies pocket diaper. They have a hook system that makes them very tiny.
We didn't use the HH mini personally but I have heard good things about it.

I wouldnt know, never tried the brand. rumparooz are expensive but they are so tiny, and yet one size fits all. they would fit a newborn, and grow with the baby. (or they just came out with a newborn size which must be reeeally tiny) otherwise we used kissaluv fitteds size 0, those fit well with some extra small thristies covers. I do know that bum genius pockets are too bulky for a newborn.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to my blog but I just posted a cloth diaper tutorial.

have you checked out diaperpin.com? I found their reviews very helpful in deciding on brands and finding out the pros and cons.

I used the Mini onesize and Loved them!!
My lo was born at 5lbs10oz went down to 5lbs even. The mini's fit her from 5lbs to about 12lbs. Which for us was about 4-5 months old.

Thanks so much for the info and advice! I just love MDC mommas- I really don't know what I'd do without you.
I think HH minis one-size will be good for us- MY side of the family have very, very small babies (5-6 lbs) and dh's side have average (7-8 pounders). So I'm going to guess that ours will be on the smaller than average side....I know there is no way of knowing but I've got to take a guess and if need be, err on the side of caution rather than get something that won't fit a teeny tiny lo.
I think I will get a dozen or so HH mini one-size and also try my luck with prefolds and covers and maybe a few fitteds. I have read in so many different places that kissaluvs fitteds weren't very absorbent and aren't good for nights or heavy wetters. But so many mammas sitlll seem to recommend them. I don't like the idea of prefolds but if they don't work out I can always use the half dozen I get for other things right?
Thanks again.

Check out diaperswappers for WAHM fitteds. Then you can see if you like fitteds w/o paying a bunch for new kissaluvs or whatever. I bought some fitteds (some with snap in soaker, some with built-in), a few pockets (some fitted, 2 one-size), made a few fitteds, and bought a dz tiny prefolds.

I figure we didn't spend that much, but have like 40 diapers + 12 prefolds. We're planning on using the preemie prefolds for mainly stuffing and doublers, and burp cloths.

I used Rumparooz OS on my newborn DS. They were a bit bulky, but fit him just fine

DS was 8Ibs:
