2nd trimester, BAD round ligament pain? Is this normal???

With my DD, I mainly had round ligament pain in the first trimester, and when I DID have it, it lasted literally for a split second and disappeared as fast as it came.

I've just started my 2nd trimester with this DC and OMG, the ligament pain (round or otherwise) is REALLY bad, as in needed my husbands help getting out of bed this morning (that was the first time that happened). It seems like round ligament pain to me, but now I'm not sure. It's definitely a muscle pull type thing, but the farther I go along, the worse it gets and the longer it takes to go away.

ETA: it mainly happens in bed when coughing or sneezing, and getting up fast from a chair, but lately it happens just from lying down in bed and I wake up in pain...

Did any of you experience this at all?

i have had a lot of ligament pain as well. lying down in bed is the worst if i try to turn over or laugh / cough.

my midwife told us that it was totally normal in the 2nd trimester and gets worse during stages of growth. i must be having a lot of stages of growth!

I never had any RL pain at all with DD, but I've had terrible RL pain with this one. It started late in the 1st tri and hasn't stopped yet at 34 weeks. Obviously, it's not continuous, but there are days when it will hit me out of nowhere and last for 5 minutes or more and happen 7 or 8 times, and sometimes it's so bad I really feel like I can't stand up straight.

I had moderate pain with DS1. This time everything hurts! I feel like a cripple most of the time .

Ouch! It sent me into the midwife at 1 am!

I can relate, this is my first pregnancy and I did not evenknow what the rounding ligament pain was. All I knew is that I was having sharp pains that worsened with movement, or as you mentioned sneezes and such. After our trip I learned this was perfectly normal to experience this and osmetimes its really painful, I mean your ovaries are being pulled in all sorts of directions theyre not used to being in! I was 5 1/2 months. Hope youre feeling better!

Oh yeah, I've got it. Not quite as bad as the OP, but it's a real annoyance and significantly painful. I find that if I walk too quickly, or am carrying something even remotely heavy, I get very "stitch" like pains, especially on the right side (which I read is the way the uterus tilts). It wasn't as bad today, but I was hurting for sure yesterday. Baby must be growing! I know I seem to be on a rapid expansion plan.....I find supporting my belly with my hands when I walk to be somewhat helpful, gives the muscles more support.

this was my major complaint with pregnancy, and it's also what got us in the hospital for an exam and ultrasound during labor (which thankfully we then left to birth at home, phew). It was so bad I had fears of abruption.

I also have sciatic pain. My doc and chiro worked with me before and after the pregnancy and they think it's related to injuries from gymnastics.

I'm 8 weeks along and it's already to the point where I can't stand and put my pants on. The process of lifting one leg while putting weight onto the other is unbearable.

Things I'm going to try this time aroung:

-pilates for pregnancy, with particular focus on my back and pelvis
-weekly adjustments w/ a maternity chiropractor
-arnica cream to rub into the skin around the painful areas
-belly bands/support
