My 4.5 does and my friends 5 year old does so I don't think it's uncommon.

yes it could be a stage they are going thru.

there is this less known or not really talked about what i call preadolescent stage around 5 or 6 years old when for a period its not just tantrums but more. v. hormonal. moody. frustrated. accusatory. a complete different person than they normally are.

my v. intense 7 year old still throws intense tantrums. only difference she knows not to hit me.

also though i have noticed - lack of sleep, hunger, lack of exercise also makes her worse.

Totally normal ds does that too thank goodness it was only once in a public place but other than that it is at home.

We have to remember before gradeschool kindergarten they were at preschool with barely any sitting time they would walk around & play inside outside even during circle time.

Now they are 'forced to sit in seats' and sit in their center area .

So now I think the behavior that comes from mood swings because they need to run around and loosen up from all that sitting .

I ended up getting brendan to do some outside fun in the snow with his friend wyatt and chuckie cheese yesterday he had a better mood on him.
