getting sick a lot this winter and think my systems must be weak?

Hello all,

I have been sick a lot this winter, more than in the past. I had a sinus infection in early November. Then at the end of November, I got sinusitis and laryngitis. Then in January, I had the stomach bug for a week. Then I got a cold, then last week the stomach bug again, for 2 days. I cannot seem to get better and stay that way for long.

I am thinking that my liver must be weak, my sinuses and throat and my GI tract too. I was thinking of doing a colon cleanse to see if that helps. What do you think? My sister told me to try some lymphatic draininage and see if that helps and to try to work on my liver.

What is your vitamin D level like? Do you supplement D3?

You sound like me last winter. This winter I have been supplementing vit D (fermented cod liver oil), taking elderberry extract every day, and taking probiotics. The difference is night and day. I have only had two colds since the beginning of fall and they have both been more mild than any other cold I can remember in forever. Oh yeah, one other thing I forgot - I've been drinking a lot of nettle tea (good for iron and vit c).

i 2nd the probiotics for your GI issues. try to find a good quality probiotic that covers a lot of strains of bacteria. i use natures sunshine probiotic eleven...vit. a and d for immune system in winter as well.

i dont know if i would do a cleanse in the winter though, as our bodies naturally need more nourishment rather than cleansing. but something like a fresh juiced lemon in your water every day might be a better cleansing alternative for now. more nutrient dense foods and drinks such as nettles mentioned before.

what is your diet like now? dairy products and sugars lower my immune system. i always feels best when i eat lots of vegetables like spinach, broccoli, carrots sweet potatoes, kale and such. and lots of raw garlic!

i was also thinking that your stress, sleep, exercise, and outdoor air are very important for your immune system...
