Homestudy Questions?

Thread Starter
The agency I'm thinking of using doesn't do home studies in my state (NJ). Who did you use if it wasn't your agency? Please PM me if you can recommend someone.
Also, can I start a homestudy before I pick an agency? What should I get together right away?
Sorry if it's too many questions. I'm really nervous and excited to start this whole process.

Our homestudy was done by our agency, but we have a state adoption. I don't have any recommendations. In terms of what you can get together now-
-Get a physical, or make appointments for you and your whole family (kids, DH, etc)
-Gather up your financial information, a copy of your bills, your deed/lease, a copy of your budget or expenses in each area (ie, food, entertainment, etc).
-make sure you have all your documents ready: birth certificates, social security cards, drivers licenses, vax records (or exemptions) for people and pets, car insurance paperwork, title to car, etc. Make copies of everything.
-Find a safety checklist online at one of the agencies, and start getting your home ready. Stuff like all cleaners locked up, baby gates, electric outlet covers, guns in safes, etc. ABC fire extinguishers on every floor, etc.
