Temps went up today! Yay!

Can I join you guys? I charted for about 18 cycles pre-DD, started again a little while after she was born but it wasn't working out with her sleep schedule... Now that she's on somewhat of a normal schedule (and after a pg scare last month ) I'm back to charting...

Chart's in my sig...

Well, I have finally successfully completed one cycle of charting.... and am really seeking some feedback from you more experienced mamas

My cycle was 47 days long with AF returning on day 48. But this is the weird part :

I observed eggwhite cf on days 13, 21, 23 and 45

I observed a high, open, soft cervix on day 21 (and at least medium on many days surrounding the 21st, since this was my first cycle I had a hard time determining cp in the begining.) and also on day 45, with a medium on 44.

So was I fertile on the 45th day? i mean all the signs point to yes, right, except that AF returned just a few days later??? And if I was fertile around the 21st then shouldn't I have had AF 12-16 days later?

As for temps, I didn't do so well with that aspect.

Okay this is the other weird part. Since March I have been experiencing episodes of severe vomiting and diarhea and intense cramps during every cycle. it always lasts a few days, the first day being the worst. It always seems to correspond to when I'm ovulating or right before AF, this cycle it seems to be both. Days 16, 17, 28,29,31,32, 47, 48. This was the worst cycle thus far. ANY ideas would be most appreciated. I really feel that it is somehow related to hormones. Does this make sense to anyone else?

Thank you to anyone who made it this far

Based on your CM and CP, I think you Oed around day 21. But that would have given you a 26 day luteal phase! And TCOYF says that a luteal phase longer than 18 days means you're pg. (But everyone is different).

Now, you can have fertile type CM after you ovulate. I do regularly. It's just an extra surge of estrogen after ovulation. If you're POSITIVE you Oed, then it's not a cause for concern. The temps would tell the story. If your temps were above the coverline for more than 3 days, you'd be good.

Assuming you Oed on cd 21, then you might have been pg and had an early miscarriage, or a chemical pregnancy. That would also explain the cramps and diarhhea and vomiting near the end of your cycle. Unless this is a regular thing. And if it is, then I just have no clue.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Hope it helped.

Thanks Persephone for your quick response. I really don't know what to think. I was not able to temp consistently, so that is no help... What is a chemical pregnancy?

I am still charting and hoping to learn more with each cycle about my body. Before dd I had very regular cycles. I knew nothing about charting, but did write down dates of each AF and they were very very consistent. Now it seems that has all gone to hell.

Please, more feedback, I am confused, and if anyone has any ideas regarding the sickness (could it be due to the hormonal changes?) I would really like to hear them....

FWIW I do think there is a slight chance that I am m/c but that does not explain the monthly bout of sickness with the last several cycles.

Congrats on your first month of charting!

I get severe nausea & migraines at ovulation and right before AF... Always have... Anytime you have your hormones rising quickly or plummeting, it's not odd to experience bizarre symptoms, your just sound like one of the more intense cases...

As for the EWCM throughout the month... Sometimes your body gets ready to ovulate, rev's all of it's engines, then doesn't... It is possible that you O'd on cd45 but that would make your luteal phase only 3 days which is very abnormal... Sometimes you can have EWCM throughout the month and only experience watery CM when you actually do ovulate... EWCM does not automatically mean that you are fertile, it's just a common factor...

Charting your temps is important to determine which day you O'd, otherwise it's really just a wild guess...

FYI, a chemical pregnancy is when the egg is fertilized but fails to implant completely... Generally the only way to really know is the test positive several times and then *start* AF... Most people would have no idea that the egg was even fertilized...

PPM - no real advise here. I'm only mid way through my first cyle charting. But I am having hard time (like you are) with my temp taking. Hopefully some others will be able to help. Keep up the charting! I figure it can only get easier each cycle.

Don't worry about the temping too much at first. It can be really hard to get into the habit of it. Even now (and I'm still new at this too, I've been doing it "for real" for only a couple of months) I forget, or don't hear the alarm, or wake up at the wrong time, move around before I remember... tons of stuff. Just keep temping every time you remember. It will eventually come.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am soooo relieved to know that someone else is experiencing this. I have been quite worried. We do not have health insurance and are broke so I do not have the option of seeing a professional about this.

Is there any hope for me that this may pass as my cycles become more regular? How do you deal with this? I am allready having anxiety about the next episode. I am so SICK of being SICK, kwim? Yes, in my case it is very intense. This last month I was literally incapacitated for about 3 hours, I could not do anything except be sick and lay on the floor. I had to call dh home from work.... I am feeling desperate.

Thanks to everyone for your input and congratulations. I am a bit impressed with myself for getting this far

Anyone know if it's normal for your cervix to be high and soft for only one day? TIA
post #51 of 159
I don't know if it's normal, but that's how mine was this past cycle. it would be medium the day before and then high and soft for only one day. HTH

I don't know if those of us here are TTA because we DON'T want kids right now, or whether we're just waiting to TTC (I imagine it's a bit of both), but I'm really having baby urges right now. We can't afford a baby, I'm not healthy enough, and it just wouldn't be a good idea right now, but I just got AF, and the couple days before, I was imagining what it would be like to find out I was pregnant. Telling all my friends, telling dh, telling my parents, imagining what it would be like to feel a baby inside me... *cry* And we have to wait TWO MORE YEARS! It's going to be torture!

Persephone, I know what you mean!! We are waiting to ttc for financial reasons... It is so hard sometimes! I really have the baby lust right now. Even dh is feeling that way so we haven't been as careful as we should.

to you I remember those feelings when we were waiting to ttc dd

Wow! I can't believe how this thread has grown. I am still trying to chart "consistently. But I always forget to take my temp first thing in the morning at the same time and BEFORE my baby latches on. So I am waiting for my next cycle to start all over again....*sigh*.
I keep forgetting too! We have the alarm set, and I hear it, wake up, and tell dh "make it stop..." And go back to sleep forgetting that the whole reason it was on in the first place is to temp! Lately, he's been waking up and reminding me. Lol, silly me. :P

I wish my husband would remind me. There seems to be conflicting information about timing and the sex of a baby. Have you read any credible information on the subject lately? Me and my husband would love a little girl someday, but right now our finances do not permit having anymore children.

I know there's a chapter in TCOYF, and in a book I used to have, "Your Fertility Signals". I lent that book to a friend, and I didn't expect it back. I'll check on it, and get back to you.

Sorry for the late reply... I have absolutely no advice... If I catch the migraine before it progresses (like when the spots start) and take 4 ibuprofen, it usually doesn't go full blown but other than that, I've found that the symptoms are there regardless... The dull headache is still there and I'm usually sick to my stomach...

Oddly, my symptoms are worse when my cycle is more regular... I had zero migraines while I was pregnant and nursing, now that I'm back on a regular cycle, they are back - just like they were before I became pregnant... My mom is exactly the same way... She had back to back to back to back kids, tandem nursed, etc. and called those years the best of her life (with a big reason being the absent migraines)

On a lighter note... AF arrived tonight Dodged another month!

Ok, heres the info on gender selection. The theory is that male sperm (y chromosome) are quicker and lighter, and tend to die earlier. So, if you want to have a boy, bd as close to ovulation as possible. (In TCOYF, this is defined as peak day and the day after.) Female sperm (x chromosome) are heavier and slower, and can withstand more stress than male sperm. So, if you want a girl, bd as soon as you see fertile CM. (In TCOYF, this is defined as several days before peak day, but not closer than two days before.)

So, I consider TCOYF to be a reputable source, and I hope that helps.

In other news, my temps have been all over the place this cycle. I really hope that doesn't mean I'm not going to O this cycle. Here's my chart, have a look: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/13f5b

Persephone, I've had wacky temps too... Maybe it's the heat... Do you live where it's hot? Do you temp orally? My sis is trying to use the gender selection method... For what it's worth, DD was conceived ON ovulation day , I think the chances using this method are increased by about 10% (increased nonetheless) but don't quote me on that
