A good place to consign kids/maternity items- St. Louis, MO

I am not happy with OUAC (Once Upon A Child). I went there yesterday - the location out by my house in West County - and they completely picked over a ton of stuff that was in season or will be in season soon. So, I waited around for 30 mins for $9!! They took one shirt and two pairs of pants.

Are there other places in our area that have better consigning rules and take more stuff? I thought about Kangaroo Kids, but wasn't sure if they were much like OUAC or not when it came to consigning. Your experience? I would rather unload this stuff somewhere close by than have to sell it on Ebay, then package it up, ship it out, etc., etc.,

are you familiar with the stork lady???

she has resale events 2x a year and you consign your stuff. You might get better money for it, and you can def. get rid of a lot of stuff at once. I know I love going to these events.

I've been to kangaroo kids and if you are getting approx. $3 an item at your resale shop, you'll probably be disappointed with what they offer you, but you prob. won't wait 30 min.

Thanks. I noticed I even replied to that thread as well about the Baby Mania sale. For the Spring one, I'm gonna be out of town. But I will be checking out the Stork Lady sale in April!!

I was going to suggest the Stork Lady sale too.

I've attended them in the past as a customer and was generally pleased. I'm going to give cosigning a try for the first time this upcoming sale. I have to admit that I've spent a lot of time organizing and tagging my clothes, but then again it's my first time doing it.

do you have girls or boys stuff to sell? for every one boy item, they get 10 pieces of girls clothes...so keep that in mind. boys stuff is more likely to get bought, and girls stuff-well they get really choosy with it, since there is so much.

kangaroo kids is a great place to resale your stuff-they have some rules, they dont take things from wal mart, they dont take anything in worn out, torn, stained, or otherwise bad shape. they do specialize in buying clothes that are boutique brands, etc...

as for kkids, i really like that the clothes they dont want to buy, you can leave there to donate to their community thread project. (clothes sold at a dollar a piece and all the proceeds go to the non profit status for breastfeeding support in our local community)

i say it over and over, and i will say it again-i like supporting kangaroo kids because they are in the 'resale business' solely to fund the free breastfeeding counseling they give. They are a family owned and operated and kid friendly business, their employees are able to bring their kids to work, they give back to other local businesses and charities, and they work tirelessly to make sure that every woman in st louis can breastfeed her child as long as she wants.

this makes them the go to shop for our family-i like a personal face on the businesses I patronize and you cant get more personal than that!

If i am really looking to 'make money' on your handme downs, ebay or craigslist is a good place to start. otherwise, i really like the store credit option at kkids-it allows us to keep getting quality clothes for our 3 girls.
