My name is Lisha. I'm a junior in college right now. I'm currently studying abroad in Spain, and loving it! It's really opened up my eyes to this completely different culture and language.
I greatly dislike drugs, doctors, and hospitals. Mainly because I have had chronic nasal problems for about four years or more now and no one can figure out what is wrong with me. I had surgery in the summer of '09; it was supposed to "fix me". It was the worst three weeks of my life after that surgery, and to this day, my symptoms are still here; nothing has changed. My mom and I both use natural supplements, have a wonderful nutritionist/ chiropractor, love shopping at the local co-ops, and try to avoid prescription drugs as much as possible. I am really interested natural things (such as homebirth) because I feel like we shouldn't put things in our bodies that were not meant to be there. I'm still on the fence whether I want kids or not; but I know that if I'm going to have them, I want them at home. I mean, what better place to welcome a new child than in his/her own home surrounded by loving family and in a warm, welcoming environment? I, personally, cannot stand the sight of hospitals. They scare me. =P My aunt had two at home births and her girls are doing fantastic! I'm hoping to learn a lot more about homebirths and things related to it though.
A little more about me: I am on a gluten free diet; my mom, sister, and I all are. I try to buy only organic/ natural products for everything. I've recently started using cloth pads, and I love them! I'm really interested in learning about new things: from other religions to vegetarian cooking recipes, I like learning about it all! I am a very strong advocate for gay rights. I haven't protested or anything for it, YET! I'm hoping to get more involved once I get back in the states.
My hippie BFF convinced me to join this since I've never done discussion board type things before. But it seems like a fun, new experience, so I'll try it out!
