Gave birth vaginally 2.5 weeks ago and still bleeding bright red. Midwife told me to slow down postpartum. Took her advice and on the 10th day it was pinkish then yellow. Now 18 days in postpartum it's bright red again with little clots.
Is it possible that it could be a real period? I know a very small part of the placenta had remained but I passed a big clot 2 days in that I'm sure was what that was. I don't really have any cramps or pain and no tears--all is intact. Just small spurts of the bright red stuff right after I breastfeed. It's supposed to be brownish now and it isn't.
Is it possible to have the bright red bleeding past the 6 day mark? I know lochia is supposed to last 6 weeks after birth.
Just curious if anyone has experienced this.
