How to combat yeast on breasts???

I've been nursing for 9 months and had thrush four times and for the last couple months my nipples have been irritated and a little sore, especially while nursing ds. I also itch and burn on the actual breast skin in a few places. The thrush has been previously treated with meds like Nystatin and Fluconazole and I've also been able to ward it off myself with probiotics, coconut oil, and grape-seed oil.

Recently I tried some more Fluconazole to combat the itchy soreness, but even with that it still isn't gone. It seems like I need a more longterm solution to overcome the yeast. Probiotics supplements are already something I've been trying, and they help a little.

Anybody got some ideas, how to fix this, or why it keeps recurring? Could this be fixed by altering my diet?

i think i read on kellymom.com about putting vinegar on the thrush-maybe diluted? or plain organic yogurt on your nipples. the cold will feel good, and then it dries a bit flaky, but no need to wash off before nursing.

does your daughter pass it back to you via her mouth? you could give her probiotics as well.

i definitely think that yeast in your diet can add to the problem. taking out sugar, caffeine, and yeasty stuff does wonders. also adding raw garlic every day will help fight the yeast. or pau d'arco as well.

HTH!
