Connection between comfort suckling and vomiting??

Every time my dd (now 7wks) wants to comfort suckle or any suckling past about 10 or 15 minutes she ends up vomiting. Does anyone know what the connection might be?

Does she poop around that time as well? Eating on a full colon can make that happen.

The public health nurse told me that when he sucks for comfort, DS will likely get more milk than he needs and that when he exceeds his stomach capacity, it will come back up again.

she does tend to have a lot of gas that i let her work out before feedings, but in most cases this is post gas work out and a healthy feeding. last night i thought it would be ok to let her continue suckling as my breast was pretty empty and she wouldn't be getting much more milk. when i realized she was going on too long - almost an hour - i tried switching her to a paci which she doesn't really like anyway, and then of course she vomited.

My LO does the same thing. He nurses way too long, or when gassy and then spits up. Doesn't seem to bother him though...

thanks guys. this really helps

DD2 does the same thing, too, since she doens't do pacifiers. She comfort suckles, lets go, gives me a beaming, beautiful, loving smile......before covering me in curdling milk. One of these days, I will not allow myself to grow complacent, and get her away from me before she redecorates my bra, shirt, and sometimes pants, not to mention her own!

My ds did that same thing for a few weeks. My midwife said when they overfill their tummies, it will all come up. He seems to have outgrown it though and gets more upset when he still getting milk and he doesn't want it, so we're using a paci now.

Any green poo? You could have oversupply. Or a baby with a tendancy toward reflux.

I'm actually having a similar problem with ydd (6wo) where she literally projectile vomits after a second or two of intense gagging. And its often a yellowish hue? Could this be overfeed as well or should I check it out?
Sorry if this is h/j but didn't want repeat threads.

I have been struggling with oversupply issues as well and have started block feeding. i am almost equaled out here after about 2 weeks.

That was our problem at that age, too and it also came with screaming fits, no doubt b/c her tummy hurt.

Found out I had oversupply, so I pumped a bit before feeding and did block feeding. It took about 3-4 days but boy was it worth it! Poor little chub!

Yes, this was my experience as well - and I too have oversupply issues. My daughters that enjoyed comfort nursing the most had the worst of it, by far!
