Can anyone tell me more about this? Are there any guides to how/where to wrap in this instance?

Using a rebozo (or a belly support belt, though they tend to be fickle) can help with maternal posture, which can help position baby. Also, by supporting the front of the uterus, it can help shift a baby who is laying "out front" into a more vertical position. I have my husband help me tie mine, and it helps with my SPD. I "pick up" the bottom of my belly, and kind of just roll in in and back. It's a really small movement, and I never push it further than is comfortable. DH unfolds the rebozo and drapes it flat across my belly and hands, and then knots it in the back. I wiggle my hands out, and adjust to make sure everything is comfortable. I've tried multiple belly support belts, but never found one that works as well as a long wide scarf or rebozo.

I spread it out all over my belly, but the majority of the support is underneath, to help push my uterus up and back, to position baby vertically in the pelvis, rather than laying angled out over it. I am carrying really low as well, and it's made my SPD horrendous. I can't wear pregnancy pants because the band makes me want to die, but the all over support of the rebozo is different from just a strip of support. I'm sure there are other methods to using binding for positioning, but this is the only one I am familiar with.

japanese women typically do belly binding from when they start to show. anne frye shows how to do it in holistic midwifery, but if you do a google search you might find more specific info. japanese women use a kimono-length fabric (13" wide by about 9'). a rebozo folded in half (to make it even more narrow, but the same length) would be about the perfect width.
