Is anyone actually doing this? We found that our daughter slept much better on her tummy starting at 3 weeks (she is 11 weeks now) but went back to back sleeping with a swaddle 3 weeks ago following the advice of a well respected nurse in our area (and almost everyone else we know). She is in our bed right now, but could be in a pack and play in the room if that worked better. I find it awkward to nurse her in the swaddle, but will deal with it if that is safer/preferable to belly sleeping. She won't sleep longer than an hour if unswaddled on her back. What would you do?

Sleeping on tummy

Definitely keep her on her back swaddled. MY DS was and kind of still is the same way. I'm saying this as we let our 6-month old sleep on his tummy. He's been rolling over both directions for awhile and almost always rolls over to his tummy, and if he rolls over to his back almost always wakes up. I've heard once babies can roll the risk of SIDS significantly decreases. Is it possible to remove the swaddle while nursing, or does this just wake her up too much?

We did let DD nap on her belly at that age, but only when we were in the room watching. I agree with the others that it would make me uncomfortable at night. I'd be afraid I wouldn't awaken if she had breathing trouble. In a few short, sweet months when she's rolling, you can feel easier about it.
