Looking for a resource on properties of wood

Bizzare title I agree- but I am looking for a great resource which talks or discusses the various properties certain species of wood may hold.

The reason is I am considering purchasing a beautiful wooden ring in celebration of my 2nd son (1 year later) and I found this one:

I am incredibly drawn to it, and while I love to listen to my gut, I am trying to figure out the why if possible. This happens with all the rings I buy for major life moments, and then I'll figure it out later the why I just had to buy it.

I have currently one with a very large piece of milky amber, and silver band with cutouts of an elephant family. I guess this time I am just impatient to find out why as this is very different from the jewelry I've picked in the past.

Any help would be greatly appreciately!

i don't know about properties of specific types of wood / trees, but as an element (in feng shui, for instance), i think i've read that wood is considered the most versatile/flexible. it represents growth, patience and balance (think about a tree and the balance between hidden and visible, below ground and above ground, periods of growth and periods of rest).

within the system of four elements, i guess wood falls within the 'earth' category because it comes directly from the earth, but if you think about it, it's really a product of all four elements. the air/wind carries the seeds and strengthens the tree as it grows, plus we all love the wind blowing through the leaves, right? earth is the womb for the tree; water, obviously, is the um water; and fire in the form of sunlight feeds the tree - and then wood feeds fire. in that respect, you might think of wood as completeness or, again, balance.

Very interesting about wood in terms of feng shui & the four elements.

I remember vaguely from my wiccan studies (oh so long ago), I thought wood was about grounding energy with the roots. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my notes, & resources now.

The ring is made of indian rosewood, a strange type of wood to me, but again lovely and just something is telling me this is one.

Thank you so much for the insights!!
