Using kefir water for soaking grains?

We can't use whey, vinegar or lemon juice as acidic mediums for soaking grains so would kefir water do the same thing? Obviously looking to break down the phytic (sp?) acid before cooking.

I have been using water kefir to soak my oatmeal. It has a nice flavor (a little sweet), DS and I like it better than soaking in yogurt. I don't see why you couldn;t do other grains as well.
