Aaram Diego Zen Fox McEachern was born january 7th, 2010, at 6.22 pm.

My OB/GYN decided to induce labour on the 7th. for 2 weeks prior, we had been trying to get labour to begin. Long walks, lots of sex, cottonroot tincture, and a membrane sweep did nothing except begin weak contractions that did not progress. At 6 am on the 7th, I arrived at the hospital and was hooked up to a pic drip by 8. My partner opted not to come to the birth, but I was lucky to have a nurse who was a close family friend. As the contractions began to pick up, I was able to walk and use a birth ball to help through them. At 4 cm, my water broke, and at 5cm, I requested an epidural. With my daughters birth, my progression had stalled around that point for many hours. Once the epidural had gone into effect, I was able to rest. I turned on some music and napped for an hour. After an hour, one of my nurses checked dialation and found that I was completly dialated. After 30 minutes of pushing and less that 11 hours of labour, my son was born, huge, healthy, and yelling his head off. He was 7lbs, 10oz, and 20 inches long. One of the nurses handed him to me, and he latched on, trying to nurse, right away.
After the placenta detached, I started to heamorage. My vision began to blur, and my body stated shaking uncontrolably. I don't remember much for awhile after, but I was told later that my uterus would not contract down and that it took an injection of pic and 30 minutes of constant massage for the bleeding to finally stop. Due to this, and the extremly low platelet count that resulted, I was kept in the hospital for 5 days. Diego stayed with me, and was allowed to nurse on demand and co-sleep. The team of nurses was wonderful. They were always ready to take him to the nurses station so I could rest, and more than once he was returned with his hair spiked into a little mohawk!
I've been home recovering for 3 weeks now, and am just able to be up and around. We finally got internet yesterday, so I'm able to post this! Diego looks exactly like his father. He was born with a full head of black hair, and has a bit of hair on his ears too. LOL. His big sister LOVES him. She has laid claim to "her baby". I will ty to post photos soon.

Welcome to the world, little one.
