guilty verdict for mom who overdosed her daughter

This case is weighing so heavily on me right now.
I know this isn't really adoption related, but for me it is. As I struggle to parent a daughter that has mental health issues she may have inherited from her birth family, the one card I have is that I don't have the same mental health problems. I can't imagine dealing my daughter's challenging behaviors and my own mental health issues. Yet I think the jury made the right decision, and it is breaking my heart

I think about Rebecca Riley regularly, since she died. Just today I read an article about how the new book on mental health diagnoses will have a new condition that is supposed to create an alternative to diagnosing young children as bipolar. I wonder if the psychiatrists who worked on this were influenced by the case of Rebecca Riley.
