Good brand of OPK?

I usually chart but I also use the "internet cheapie" OPKs as backup on occassion. I use the ones that are the dipstick, that don't always get the most blaring positive and aren't very satisfying to use. But they are pretty cheap in bulk.

This is my first cycle post miscarriage (12.5 weeks) and I'm still nursing my 18 month old, so now more than ever my cycle(s) are going to be wonky. I'm thinking I'll splurge on some better OPKs. Amazon has some pretty good deals on 20 packs of the clear blue digital and the first response OPKs.

Have anyone used them? Like them? Like something else better?
I'm not quite ready to make the plunge into the clear blue monitor yet - maybe---it's kind of spendy--

I'm really looking for something a little easier to interpret than the cheapies.

Thanks!

different opks work differently for different women... so while something may work great for one person, they aren't guaranteed to work for you. The same as if they don't work for someone else.

Maybe, but the same holds true for HPTs and I read continually how great the FRER are and how blue dye tests suck and give false +s. The last thing I need right now is some false + OPks...

I love the CBE digitals. No guessing, no comparing test lines... just a smiley face or an open circle.

I like the idea of the smiley face and no guessing. I'm on amazon right now and they have a 20 pack for $43 with free 2 day shipping. I'm not sure (since I do chart) I would need 20 in one month although maybe I could. But since you only get 1 digital test stick thing, do you know if it will "last" for 2 months? Like I know that a digi HPT dies after a few days....

Thank you!

OPKs are more likely to give you negatives when you are surging than to give you positives when you aren't, since the difference between a positive and a negative on them are way different than the difference between a positive and negative on an HPT (what would be positive on an HPT is rarely dark enough to be positive on an OPK)

this is why its different for each woman. some women use the digital OPKs with great luck, others never once see a positive. Its really a gamble but I say go ahead and do it.

As someone who has actually used OPK's and had great results (aka a BFP!), allow me to be of assistance! I've used IC's (dip stick and the cased version) , FR and Dollar Tree brand. I don't like the IC's...the 2nd line took a LONG time to turn positive and I didn't like how thin and flimsy they felt. The First Response were great. Looks just like the pregnancy tests...but too much $$ for me. The Dollar Tree are my favorite! Each one comes with a dropper and you use 5 drops. No POAS, no dipping, no question about how much/how little to use. 5 drops, you're good. And with that brand, if ANY part of the test line is as dark as the control line, it's positive. When I caught my surge at the right time, I'd get a BLARING positive with a test line way darker than the control line. It would be this way within 5 minutes. I also like that you can read the results for up to 30 mins (I've tested and then forgotten about it so this is a plus for me)!! And the price is great!! Once I was in the zone where I knew O would be coming, I'd test twice a day and it helped so much for timing DTD!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember when you got your BFP. I wish you the best and hope you get your BFP asap! I'd be happy to give you pics and more info on my journey with OPK's so feel free to PM me!

Thanks for that response, I had no idea that dollar tree made OPKs as well, I went online to check yesterday but I only saw the pregnancy tests on their website (which you can buy in cases of 72, LOL, imagine the possibilities...).
I think I'll head to the one in the next town, I need to buy some HPTs to see when the hcg is out of my system anyways so hopefully they'll have them.

Oh and I know that the OPK won't confirm ovulation for sure but with night waking and nursing and just general not sleeping very well, my temps are kind of kooky. I did use them when I got pregnant with #2 back in 2007, and it obviously helped alot.

PS......Is it romantic to ask my husband for the clear blue fertility monitor for valentine's day? LOL...

I absolutely love the earlypregnancytest.com ones. There is no doubt when it's a positive..you'll see two lines for awhile..but once it's positive, it's no doubt about it..at least that's how they have been with me.

I used these:

they worked like a charm and they were affordable and came with enough to test twice a day for quite some time.

I just wanted to chime in that I used (successfully) the Dollar Tree OPK's and really liked them. They were easy and for me, accurate! I say try those before shelling out the big bucks -- it's worth it b/c they work.

Sure, it'll last. Mine's been "alive" for three months now, and I have two test sticks left before I run out. I'm going to use mine this month as well. Now that I'm using them in conjunction with temping, I don't use nearly as many sticks... I know from my temps and past patterns when I'm about to O. I just use the OPKs to confirm what I learned from temping.

They're kind of $$$ though... ITA with another poster about the dollar tree OPKs. They're line tests, but they're supposed to be pretty accurate, and you can't beat the price!

LOVE the dollar tree ones. I have used them to conceive twice, and they are always big fat and darkly +! I have also used the CVS brand and Answer brand, which are 20 dipsticks for $20 and they work, but can be confusing because only one side of the line darkens. Go with the Dollar Tree!

Thanks ladies so much. There is a Dollar Tree in the next town, if it weren't for the so called blizzard we are getting today, I'd be there already. I think I'll head over in the nexy day or so.

Also, that's good about the digital test. If the $ trees aren't clear for me, that's the way I'm going. Trying to find really good prices on them online is at least passing the time.
