Disney for adults?

I'm not sure this is the right place for this thread, but all the other Disney related threads seem to be here. Please move it if need be.

DH is going down to Orlando for 9 days for school practicum during university reading week. He will be working 24 hours on, 24 hours off, and his days off are his to fill with whatever he wishes (other than recovery sleep).

He can't figure out what to do. There's about 6 other adults with him on his days off, though he's not particularly close with any of them. He's looking to get the most 'bang for his buck' while he's down there. They are staying at the orlando quality inn, right on international drive. There is supposed to be shopping nearby, as well as sea world being 3 miles, universal studios 15 minutes, and Walt Disney World Resort 15 minutes away.

Neither of us know *anything* about Disney, and he's trying not to get sucked into spending lots of money on things the other guys may want to do. He's toying with the idea of just doing shopping and not a lot of 'disney' stuff at all.

Any help?

well, disney sure will suck the money right outta ya! LOL I-Drive is basically designed to get you to open your wallet. Magic Kingdom isnt too much for for grown ups who visit sans kids...is he a roller coaster guy? if so, he might like Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure better. you have to pay sep. for admission, tho the two parks are really just one big park. if he's going to go out in the evening with a group of adults, they might like Universal City Walk. you just pay for parking, you dont actually have to go into the two theme parks for City Walk. its clubs and restaurants and stuff.

if he wants to spend less than what a theme park would suck out of him, maybe he would like a museum. iirc, there is a Ripley's attraction somewhere around there, but i havent been to it.

if he wants to shop (or if youve given him a list!) there are two Prime Outlet Malls near I-Drive. in fact, one of them is at the very end of it, and there is another mall right around the corner, with an Ikea, which is MY idea of a great day! LOL anyway, not sure what you guys have up there, but the I-Dr outlet has a Coach store. i love going in there. lots of great clothing shops there too, big names like Hilfiger and Polo and stuff like that.

Disney (to me) is not really for adults. I enjoy it with the kids, but I would not enjoy it without them. If he wants to do an amusement park, Universal is more exciting for adults.

Another fun thing we have done in Orlando where the adults (especially the husbands!) have had fun is an evening at a go-cart track. We went to one that had 6-7 different courses and some amusement type rides. We paid one price and stayed as long as we wanted and rode whatever we wanted to ride.

I absolutely love Disney! We would go multiple times a year with family and no children. (Until I had DD)

Magic Kingdom has Space Mountain, Pirates, Haunted Mansion and others. It's a great way to spend a couple of days! You can do it so the only thing that you spend money on is your ticket and they can get expensive.
