I have a degree in Child Development and taught preschool then ran a child care center before having children. So it is safe to say that I thought I knew EVERYTHING. Top on that list was the need to have a good schedule in place. Children, of course, do best with a solid predictable routine. I also was not going to co-sleep, would only breast feed to a year or so, and was going to be an active SAHM, volunteering at a nice co-op preschool, etc... I also had all of the solutions for difficult children, behavior problems, etc.
Well- I WOH part-time and hardly have time to volunteer anywhere, although my kids have gone to an awesome play based child care center, my babies were never on a schedule, were breast-fed on demand, they still co-sleep at 6 and 3, I nursed DD to 2.5 and DS to 3. And as far as solutions to behavior problems, ha! If someone could please tell me how to get my 3 year old to stop spitting, I would be thrilled!
