My midwife sent this to me this morning and I thought I would share the link for all the moms around here struggling with night feedings...SO funny!

And so true.

SOOoooo true! I got the picture like, right after she was born :P I think we put her in the crib for about 20 minutes on her first night at home, but after that, she slept right next to me in the big bed! I have NO idea - no idea - how people get any rest doing it any other way? I feel refreshed in the morning, able to do stuff! How anyone can get up a thousand times a night, walk into the baby's room across the house, down to the kitchen, make formula, feed baby, rock baby and go back to sleep in their own room is beyond me...

I would without a doubt be a crazy psycho person if I had to do that.

No kidding!

Dh keeps asking me when we are going to get our bed back. I say when either he learns how to make breast milk and starts getting up three or four times a night to feed her, or when she consistently sleeps from 10pm to 7am without waking...how about that?

In the meantime she'll be within nipple's reach all night long, thank you very much.

Yep, I prop the boob out on a receiving blanket about 2 inches from her face and she actually does a pretty good job of finding it in the night with minimal help from me!

I read that milkmen thing once and it's fascinating! I tease Harry with it all the time but he's not going to go there. Harumph! He does still complain how tired he is though, because he has to get up and let our nursing mother dog out in to the yard about three times a night. Thinking about it, I actually reckon he has drawn the short straw here...haha!

Do people really get up and down like this all night? Really? Maybe those are the same people who have babies who STTN from the start, without prompting.... I would die.

I did. My first son had reflux, and I didn't know how to manage it well. So he couldn't cosleep, he slept in his crib propped. I had to sit in the glider to feed him at night, and had to make sure he burped well before I laid him back down. No half-awake feedings!!

My second son had severe medical issues so needed help to latch (cleft palate and a lip defect) and had to be in a fully upright position to eat (due to a swallowing disorder). Plus he had to stay fully upright for at least 30 minutes after each feed (due to reflux that he aspirated). So again, no half-awake feedings, no laying in bed dozing off, etc.

It sucked. Plain and simple, sucked.

My third baby will cosleep, but can't side-lie nurse very well. So I do have to sit up to feed him, but at least I can doze off while he nurses, and when I wake up and realize he's asleep again, I just slouch back down and go back to sleep. MUCH better!
