Nursing Pillow for Twins?

Howdy Mamas,

I am due with twins in April and am wondering if other mamas have found it helpful to get an actual nursing pillow for twins. I never really used one with my daughter, now 3, but I'm wondering if the logistics of nursing two at a time lend itself to some sort of specialized twin nursing pillow. Any info or brand recommendations (if you used one) would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

These two were recommended to me- the My Brest Friend for twins and the EZ2Nurse. I was able to get two EZ2Nurse pillows used, one to keep upstairs and one downstairs.

My cousin's wife just had twins on 12/30 and says the My Brest Friend has been helpful. On here, I've read more about the EZ2Nurse.

We'll see for me soon. But it appears if you want to nurse them together it's pretty helpful.

I have the ez-2-nurse and really love it. I think it is necessary at first- but now I bring the girls out and about and don't feel like bringing a pillow everywhere. So- I just find what I can to prop. It is just a nice thing to have and super helpful. I definitely could not tandem nurse without it.

I didn't use a nursing pillow for the twins and I never felt like I needed one. I think it all depends on your nursing style--I personally like to walk around, use the computer, play with my toddler, etc. If you like to stay put then I can see how a nursing pillow would be useful in the early days when it's round the clock nursing, especially if you intend to nurse both together (which I don't do).

It was essential for me (the EZ2NURSE foam version) since it was the only way that I could comfortably nurse both twins at the same time when I was home alone. And my twins nursed at least 45 minutes out of every 2 hours during the day for the first couple of months. And they always wanted to nurse at the same time. I even brought the pillow with me places (to the park and baby groups) because I seriously could not tandem nurse without it.

Once my twins were about 2.5 months old, they became much more efficient at the breast, only nursing 5-10 minutes at a time, and I started nursing them one-at-a-time (so much more pleasant for me), and no longer used the pillow. But even just for the brief time that I used it, I would have paid $500 for it. It was THAT helpful.

Because this will not be your first nursing experience you may not have the same need for it (you will be learning how to nurse twins, but not learning how to nurse all together, like I was). Also, if you are not going to be home alone with the twins in the first few months, then there would be less of a need (I could tandem nurse with just regular pillows for support, but needed someone to hand me the second baby in this case).

HTH!

No way I could have nursed both at the same time those first 3 months without the EZ2Nurse pillow. Just got it back from another twin mama that used it for a long time too.

The pillows were too high for me. I am short waisted with large breasts, and they were too high.

I used my recliner and baby blankets under their heads, as needed.

So, perhaps get 1 to borrow first?

EZ2Nurse is really helping me. I try to feed them separately sometimes, but often as soon as I get started with one, the other one wakes up and is mad. I get the pillow and put both of them on. I don't know how I would nurse both at the same time without the pillow. I've never tried anything else, so I can't give a good comparison.

I felt that the EZ 2nurse pillow (foam version) was essential. It was what made night nursing possible, and made tandem nursing comfortable. With the pillow and the babies swaddled, I was able to get them on, nurse and off the pillow by myself after my husband went back to work.
