Will leaving my 15 mo for two days cause him to wean?

So, DH and I have a wedding to go to that's 5 hours away at the end of April. DS will be almost 15 mo at the time. Our plan would be to leave early Sat morn (nurse before I go) and come back late Sun night (after DS has gone to bed.) I'd leave him with expressed bm (would you leave cups or bottles, btw? Dr. said to transition to cups, but what about the need to suck?)

Do you think this would cause a nursling his age to wean? He likes nursing, but isn't crazy attached. He does ask for it, but only nurses about 4-6 minutes. He nurses around 4 times during the day, and a couple times at night. We wer going through somewhat of a nursing strike, over the last few days, but it's getting better and he's nursing more now.

What do you think? Anyone with experience of leaving for a weekend with a nursing child this age? What happened? I've never been away for ds for more than several hours, and never over night. Thoughts? Thanks.

I think it totally depends on the kid. We went away for a night when my DS was 16 months old, and he did just fine for MIL and asked to nurse almost immediately when we got back. He does nurse about 10-15 times a day though and is very attached to it.

Its possible. I have left my DD overnight twice now and she hasnt weaned, but some kids lose their sucking reflex in that time. You have to be prepared for that possiblity.

I wouldn't worry about it. But the again I wouldn't be all that upset if my 15 month old weaned.

I've left and not had a problem. If your baby takes bottles now I would be inclined to stick with that.
