When Did You Stop Pumping At Work? - Page 2

At a year... I could not wait a day more.. one year was my goal, and I stopped on DSs bday. It did not affect my supply - we still nurse quite a lot, and I have always had enough for him.

I stopped pumping at a year because I wanted my fertility back. I started pumping again 2-3 months later for a friend's newborn and within days I was able to pump the same amount again (which wasn't enough for a newborn because my pumping supply had dropped much earlier, when DS started solids significantly).

I'm a teacher so I only needed to pump during the school year, so I stopped that June when dd was 13 months. The following fall, when she was 16 months, I was prepared (begrudgingly) to pump, but I wasn't getting much and dd refused the bottle after 3 months not needing it, so I was pretty happy when I got to put the pump away! That didn't effect our nursing patterns at all. She continued to nurse until she was 3.

16.5 months. much longer than i ever imagined i would. i would like to take a bow.

eta: to the op, you could still pump but drop it to once a day. i found that very liberating in terms of not having pumping eat up my workday.

DD is now 13 months and I'm still pumping 3 times a day... I was pumping 4 times, but cut back to 3 when she turned one. I'm slowly working on weaning during the day so I can someday stop pumping, because I am sooo done. lol

She still wants her bottles of EBM during the day and isn't taking to cow's milk... I'm trying to get her more used to the taste by mixing her bottles half and half... that is how I was able to cut out a pumping session.

She is hit or miss with solids... some days she eats a bunch, others... she is more interested in throwing it all on the floor.

So I can't in good conscience just stop pumping for her yet as she needs the nutrition from the milk.

One day... lol I may have to throw myself a putting away the pump party when that day comes.

At 9mos, I was down to one pumping a week, and by the end of the week wasn't doing that.

BUT...

I was able to run home three times a day to nurse DS. I lived the equivalent of a city block from home, and in the morning, taught in the building literally next door to my house. So on the way back to the big school building, I'd just stop in and nurse him quickly. Then I'd run home at lunch, and again during my prep in the afternoon. Our principal was fine with this because I'd work at home to make up for the mid-morning and mid-afternoon nursing stops. Well, more than make up for it, really.

By 11 months we weren't pumping at all.

But I realize my situation was far from normal.

DD is almost 17 months and I still pump three times a day for about 15 ounces of milk on work days. On the weekends I pump once each day to keep up my supply and add to my stash since I don't always get 15 ounces each day of the week and DD typically drinks 15 ounces.

I have a huge freezer stash and end up throwing milk out of the stash way more than I use it. I am so tired of pumping, but I am afraid to stop. I'm afraid of messing up my supply, and I feel bad when I have to give her frozen milk. I used to get 15 ounces with just two pumping sessions a day, but now it takes me three. I haven't given DD any cow's milk yet.

I'm counting down the days until DS is a year. At that point I'll cut down to one pumping per day for a week or 2, then zero. He eats a lot of solids, but I fear he will not like cow's milk... so we'll see. But I really hope it works out that way as my nipples are DONE with the pump! I'll miss hanging that sign on my door for uninterrupted quiet time twice a day, though...

I stopped right at a year with both my DDs. Continued to nurse when we were together with dd#1 until she was just a month shy of 3 and dd#2 is still nursing at 22 months, and likely for some time to come. With both I had a bit of a freezer stash and mixed bm and whole organic cows milk as a transition. Both were eating lots of solids by 1 yr, neither one seemed to really care, at that point, what was in their bottle at daycare.

I stopped at 7 months. It was horrible for me, and DD hated nursing. I am glad that I did it for as long as I did, but for us, switching to formula at that point was the right decision. Perhaps my next one won't hate nursing so much...

I stopped cold turkey at 12 months EXACTLY. His first birthday, no more pumping.
Well, I guess I cut back throughout the 9 months I was pumping from three to two (once solids were introduced) to one and then stopped. So I went from 17 oz to 10 oz to 5 oz. THEN cold turkey (can you tell I hate pumping?!)
I still BF a little - bedtime and morning (he is 15+ months now).
When I stopped I was engorged a bit during the day but it was never so painful that I worried. I just BF him when I got home from work, and ultimately my body stopped getting so engorged.
