model set for atoms/molecules?

Can anyone recommend something hands-on and easy for a young kid to build with that will represent atoms/molecules?

We just started the pre-level 1 of RS4K Chemistry, and dd really likes it a lot. I think she's enjoy putting together some of the molecules that are shown via cartoons in the book.

Something relatively inexpensive and "sturdy" is good. DD is 6. So we don't need a super college level thing, just something representative and scientifically sound.

Any ideas?

We used dry spagetti and little marshmallows for one exercise - you can write on the marshmallows and break the spagetti to the right length. We also used Magnetix another time. ~ Lucie

I think a lot of people use color clay, dough, play-do. But, if you google "student molecular model set", you'll get a bunch of hits.
