baby boys: cloth diapers and clothes help

so i am having a boy

we are planning on CDing, and i have heard that it causes some clothing issues. just bought 2 pairs of pants yesterday without thinking about this! ooops.

so just wondering--if you have had a CDed boy, what did he wear on the bottom? did onsies work? how sized up were the pants/shorts? or did you just do tees and babylegs? thanks!

I have a boy and I haven't noticed any problems with pants fitting. If anything they helped the pants stay up. He's a skinny boy. As for onesies, he did seem to outstretch them sooner than the length of pants, but he'd outgrow the pants shortly after.

Lately he's only worn tee's or onesies and baby legs around the house but he's really active and the pants were getting in the way. They were just a tad too long (outgrew previous size) and his feet were catching on the hems pulling the pants down a little. When we go out he's back in pants. Before he was active he'd where a full outfit.

My little guy wears tees and wool longies most of the time. Or the occasional one-piece crawler. But he's so long and skinny that in order to get them to fit in the leg they're huge everywhere else, so the fluffy butt isn't a problem.

I've always hated onesies, though.

I don't do onesies at all either, I prefer t shirts. Even as a newborn with a fluffy butt, Ds wore newborn pants. Actually helped them fit better. Same now with his jeans, he's a little guy, and his diapers keep his pants up. LOL He usually wears woolies around the house though, quicker and easier to get on then a fitted/cover and then pants. With the woolies, I can just put the diaper on, and then the pants.

The only time I did have issues with clothes fitting were sleepers, and that was only at about 3-6 months of age. they didn't like snapping in the crotch, but if I sized up they were too big. I don't buy that brand anymore as a result(and if I remembered the brand, I'd tell you, but I don't) Except for blanket sleepers, I buy 2 piece pajama sets now.

When ds was 0-6 months we pretty much just wore a onesie all the time. But then we moved back to Canada & I had to start putting him in more clothes. Ds is a pretty solid boy & I definitely had problems with pants not fitting. I have found that t-shirts (then they don't need to snap over the bulky dipe) with overalls works the best for us. The overalls keep the shirt from always riding up & for some reason a lot of overalls seem to be roomier through the seat & tummy then pants are - just seems more comfortable for ds. Alternatively, I put him in t-shirts with soft pants (like sweat pants). In the summer I LOVED those little one piece romper suits - super easy. Size wise ds is so big that I don't know if I was really going up a size (or sizes) because of the diaper necessarily.

My 2 1/2 month old DS is big for his age (95th %), we don't use the trimmest diapering option (using flats with PUL wraps at the moment) and he still manages to fit into some normal sized pants. He didn't, however, fit into those jersey newborn pants AT ALL. Well, they FIT but looked ridiculous on him (partly because the diaper made his butt look bigger than his head at the time ). I often can't snap the onesies unless I size up so I bought these http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=133 which work okay. Or I just leave them unsnapped. I would have used just t-shirts but we got TONS of onesies given to us and I can't justify buying more tops. At home I let him go bottomless except for a diaper but our apartment is very warm. Otherwise I size up for things like pajamas. When we go out, I generally use sposies but am planning on investing in a trimmer diapering option. So, to get to the point , if you're having a petite baby or using very trim diapers, you could probably get away with dressing him in normal sizes. If you're having a big/tall baby like mine or using a bulkier system, I'd definitely plan on sizing up. My DS was wearing a true size 3 months and even a few 3-6 months by one month old.

I have 4 sons. I skipped onesies.. the seemed to pull the tshirt really tightly over the diaper, causing it to scrunch up in unusual ways. I didn't have problems with pants though.. I would think that overalls would make changing dipes complex as well unless they have snaps in the leg area (which many do). If you get pants with snaps in the inseam, just make sure the snaps look sturdy.. I had some pants that unsnapped all the time because the bulkier diapers pulled more there..

I have a chubby baby boy and it is kinda difficult finding pants to fit over his bum but we usually just get him the next size up and either roll up the pant leg or hem them... but you can use baby legs in the summer, these are great for cloth diapers! and wool longies(which are a diaper cover as well)! in the winter. I like aritstocrats longies... thats what we do most of the time or one piece outfits that just snap inbetween the legs.

Pants fit fine, but I would stay away from all snap-crotch shirts (even if you use sposies.) They are a PITA to keep opening and snapping them when you are changing the baby constantly, and they tend to work their way into the leg hole of the diaper and get wet.

Yes, this is why I dont like onesies! I like DS in a t-shirt and babylegs.

I don't like the way pants look on little babies, so I mostly do one piece outfits. Rompers, I think they are called. Gymboree always has a lot, as does Carter's.

My two boys have been cloth diapered, and even though they have different body shapes (one is round and short legged, one is skinny and long legged), the clothes seem to fit fine around the diapers.

The only problem that we have is when overalls/rompers are getting to the end of fitting well (when they are just about to outgrow them), the snaps will pop open if I put them in a really fluffy diaper (like if it's double stuffed for a car trip or somethign). But, I can work around that.
