Calcium sup - what kind?

I take 100mg Oyster Shell Calcium each day. This morning I noticed the bottle had the standard consult a dr before use during pregnancy.

Dr Google suggests that calcium derived from oyster shells may contain lead or other contaminates.

I've done some looking around but am left confused about the type of calcium that should be used during pregnancy.

Thoughts?

The people that make Floradix, also make a calcium version. Floradix is fab - I also take their calcium version and quite like it too!

I take calcium citrate...as it's easier for me to absorb with my GI issues.

Usually, two types are citrate and carbonate.

I did read something on avoiding oyster shell...

"Be sure to avoid the natural source calcium pills such as those produced from oyster shell or bone meal. They are apt to contain lead or other toxic metals."

I take calcium citrate too, I actually take it all the time pregnant or not. I have GI absorption issues and citrate is more easily absorbed.

I take Cal-Mag-Zinc with vitamin D3 in it. It's two multi-vitamin-sized tablets a day, and they're vegetarian (with calcium from calcium carbonate).

I think you can find them through Country Life brand supplements, though mine is our co-op store brand.
