Book suggestions for ds?

DS loves to read on his own, but has run through all the fun little book series that we know and like. Any ideas on similar ones for him? Or other books like these that are not a series are ok too. He just goes through them so fast that series(-es?) are so much more convenient to grab at the library!

He liked:
Nate the Great, Young Cam Jansen (not interested in the regular Cam Jansen books yet -he says they're too long), High Rise Private Eyes, Amelia Bedelia, Henry and Mudge, Iris and Walter, the "Froggy" books.

Thanks for any ideas!

Diary of the Wimpy kid series is really cute. Frindle is another good one. (I'm not sure how old your DS is, but mine is 6 and enjoyed these.)

My 7 year old is big into Diary of a Wimpy Kid right now. He's loved the Beverly Cleary books, Magic Tree House books were big for awhile and the Boxcar Children.

Ruth Chew has a great set of books about brother-sister pairs who uncover a mystery of some sort. They are out of print but I always turn up a couple at my local secondhand book store.

You don't say how old your son is but my son loved the Animorphs... there's almost 50 of those. We had them all at one point.

Also Bruce Colville wrote several small science fiction type books for boys. My son loved those , too.

The Bailey School kids have some great titles and both my dd and my ds loved these.

My kids are both reading the Magic Tree House books now. They love them, and they are really pretty easy (comparable to Amelia Bedelia). My 4yo loves Amelia Bedelia, Frog and Toad, Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa, and Little Bear. My 7yo likes Boxcar Children.

Magic Tree House are great, though longer than the other ones he liked. Magic School Bus has some great books that are fun to read. What about the Franklin the Turtle books? I will keep thinking about what my first graders liked. I feel like I am missing one, I will let you know if I can think of it.

How about the "Encyclopedia Brown" series?

THanks for all the ideas. Right now dh reads Magic Tree House books to ds at bedtime (they're on #24 right now). Although they are a good level for him I think he's not as interested in such "long" books on his own yet. He's 5, so maybe that's why he likes the shorter books, more pictures at this point!

I am working my way through the links suggested! Some he's probably a bit young to really get yet, but will come in handy later. Franklin books... haven't gotten those yet, will definitely do so! What's this Diary of a Wimpy Kid, never heard of it! I'll look into it!

Quoting myself here... but I just looked at it on Amazon. Looks really cool, and ds loves cartoon -type books BUT I think he's young for this series. The humor and experiences might be a bit over his head yet. Another to keep in mind though!

The Magic Tree House books are really wonderful. I have bought a few of those books for my Dd she seems to like them more than other books, I guess you could say its more appealing to her imagination.

What about comics? My dds both adore Calvin and Hobbes.

These are all about the right level:
Early Readers:
Mr. Putter & Tabby (by Cynthia Rylant who did the Henry & Mudge series)
Frog & Toad
Minnie & Moo
Mercy Watson

Picture books at about the same level:
Clifford
Arthur
Berenstain Bears

Ds loves the Puppy Place books.

I would have thought of Diary of a Wimpy Kid is for older children. The leading character is in Middle School.
MY son LOVED the Kids of the Polk Street School by Patricia Reilly Giff

There are no pictures however.
Did anyone mention Robert Munch yet? His stories are quirky-funny and his books have lots of pictures.

There's a really cool series by John Scieszka, called the Time Warp Trio. The knights of the kitchen table, i think, is the first one. it's around grade 3-5 reading level. This seems like a great adventure series, usually based around historical periods.

I second a pp on the bruce coville books.

When I worked in an elementary school, Hank the Cowdog books were all the rage. As far as good content, though, I like the time warp trio..

The Commander Toad series would be a good bet:

How about Mercy Watson? DS liked those when he was younger.

If you want to go more comicy, Baby Mouse could be okay. Have you tried Ivy & Bean? Those look cute.

It sounds like your DS likes mysteries...

I searched on AR bookfinder for mysteries from 2-2.8 (so comparable to Young Cam) and found:

Bones (by David Adler, like Cam Jansen)
Houdini Magic Club (also by David Adler)
Crosby Bonsall seems to have several "I can read!" mysteries
Arthur books by Marc Brown (early chapter books)

those are only up to B in the alphabet!

I would also recommend Geronimo Stilton. They have a lot of drawings as you go along, so even though they are a little longer they still feel very quick & easy.

Had to edit to add:
simpler Dahl (like Fantastic Mr. Fox )
simple Judy Blume (One in the Middle is a Green Kangaroo)

Ricky Ricotta's Robot--- DS loved these
Stink--- by same author as Judy Moody, about her younger brother
