My boys and I just came down with them and I'm wondering if it's going to be as hard on me as everyone is warning me it will be...

Thanks!

Ugh. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had them when I was in my 20's and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Part of that though was that I was living alone and I only had one friend that was brave enough to stop by during the lunch hour to make sure I was still alive lol
If you've got a partner and/or other family/friends that are willing to help cook, keep the house up and take care of the kids so that you can just lie in bed it'll be much easier! I think I was out of work for about 5 days.
I had pretty high fevers and am anti-meds so I just kinda sucked it up.
Make sure you have lavender essential oil on hand and calamine lotion, a combo application of those works great for the itching.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the honesty. What was the roughest period for you? Because so far it hasn't be that bad at all, so I'm kind of bracing myself for the storm. I started to feel off late in the day Tuesday (headache, fever/chills in the evening), I noticed my first spot on Wednesday, today I have a few spots and a fever of 101, but I don't feel *that* bad.

My infant's first spot appeared on Tuesday morning, now he has 35+ spots and no fever. He's in great spirits and is nursing well. My older guy's first spots have yet to really emerge, but I can kind of see where there going to come in. He gets some mama milk everyday too, so hopefully neither kiddo's case will be so bad.

I don't think it hit me hard until the spots erupted fully all over me. I had fevers around 101-104 for a few days, which is super high for me as my basal body temp is around 96-97. That peak was probably the hardest part and then when I started feeling better, but was still contagious I got cabin fever really bad, but couldn't go anywhere yet lol Soooo frustrating for someone that's on the go all the time.

Little kids often seem to be able to handle it really well, especially the BF'd ones

I had it at 19...very very bad case. I spent a week in an oatmeal bath!

Be careful not to medicate the fever if you get one...this interfere's with the virus and supresses it's expression which can cause those "rare" complications

My dh had CP a few years ago. With him it hit really quickly. I think the one evening he just felt a little "off" and then the next morning woke up covered in spots and was very miserable. His fever never got too high though - he just felt tired, crappy and very itchy. Perhaps (fingers crossed) you are destined to have a mild case, since it's already been a couple of days and you still aren't feeling too bad.
