Valentine's Day

My family has a get together every month. There are about a dozen adults and a few more children than that. Since there is a birthday in the family about every month or more we have a pretty elaborate dessert as well. This month the get together is Valentine's Day since Monday is a holiday where I live and we have two part time parents in the bunch that could swing getting their children this weekend.

Anyway, this month they are doing heart shaped burgers, potato wedges and a strawberry salad. Maybe a side of deer heart for those willing. Yum. As for the dessert though, we are stumped. Cupcakes with DIY icing is the only idea thrown out so far.

I would have no problem baking a TF or sugar free dessert every month to avoid having my son either eat it, or be forced to be the only child not eating it. This month though, they want something to match the occasion and I'm stumped. I thought I would ask for any ideas.

I'm relatively new to TF and haven't experimented much with the baking and sweets aspect yet. Especially for TF ways to color frosting if there are any. My best idea is a sweet muffin with butter cream frosting.

Thanks in advance.

short-cakes with berries (you don't need to add much sweet depending on the type and berries) and server with heavy cream

or

blood oranges

not an ending but we just had Valentine egg-salad (beet eggs)

What about strawberry cream cheese frosting? I make it with equal parts butter and cream cheese and then add honey or maple syrup to taste. You could puree some strawberries and mix them in and I'm sure it would turn pink!

Thank you so much guys! I think I was stressing out a little bit and my brain sort of shut down. Now I have too many ideas. LOL They all sound yummy. My mom is sold on DIY frosting so best bet is the tortes with strawberry tinted frosting.

I didn't even think of short cakes. That will definitely be our dessert this summer when the berries are ripe for picking! I won't wait that long for the pots de creme, I think I might make those next week just for fun.
