Is anyone using a reading curriculum beyond 2nd grade?

I have posted this question before I am still struggling with reading curriculum. My DD is a late reader (just now reading somewhat fluently at 7.5 y/o and is just finishing 1st grade SSRW)

I am looking for the "next level" in reading curriculum because I just can't set her free and tell her to read. She does not enjoy it and definitely is not focused enough to simply "free read." She needs work books and check boxes.

I would love to find a complete curriculum, ideally literature based, that includes spelling, writing, phonics, grammar, punctuation, etc. Any suggestions?

There's lots of early readers you could read with your dd without having to have a set curriculum.

Frog and Toad, the Ameilia Books, Little Bear series. There are little house books, that are made for young readers too. If you go to your local library, they usually have a whole section of these books.

Kids love reading chapter books, at her age, and there are many that would be appropriate for a beginning reader.

One other option I can think of for your is LLATL(Learning Language Arts Through Literature). You could pick the level appropriate for her.

If you are Christian, or at least don't mind the mention of God, Abeka Book has a whole series of readers, that have little comprehension questions at the end of each story. They are advanced so the grade one level might be a good place to start. I use some of them with my 7 year old dd.

You can also check out Sonlights book list for core one. They have it set up for beginners and advanced, and you could get some ideas from them.

Hope that helps.

I think Sonlight language arts is wonderful too!
