Plugged Duct? What gives?...

I have been having every sort of problem imaginable with my right breast since I started bfing my dd four months ago...left one is no problem, but the right one has been a constant problem.

We have the latch down fine now, but for the past few days I have noticed a strange discharge after she nurses (no idea if it happening while she is nursing since I can't see...), kind of like a clump of hardened milk? It's sort of a gelatin-y consistency, sits right in the center of the nipple after she comes off, is pea-sized, and wipes right off with a cloth, and there appears to be reddened dot like a blood blister underneath.

I am just recovering from a severe crack in the nipple -- whole thing just kind of opened up on me (ugh!), and have been keeping the whole area really clean (changing nursing pad often) to avoid infection. The breast and tissue extending to my armpit (and actually my armpit itself) is really bruised feeling, but I don't notice any sort of lump, although this is the breast that is constantly plagued with blocked ducts. No fever, achiness or unusual fatigue, but I am flummoxed as to what is going on and whether or how I should treat it!

Thanks!

milk blister?

Could this be a milk blister? Run a google search to see some pictures and see if it kind of looks like what you have.
A milk blister is like a clogged duct right at the nipple. The usual advice is warm compresses on the breast before nursing, or trying to nurse right after a warm shower, etc.
Some times they are really painful. I've had them a couple of times. I now have one that won't completely resolve... My Dr. recommended some Dr. Newman's Nipple Ointment to see if that helps a bit... you need a prescription for this.
