For those born in Jan, or were "supposed" to be born in Jan.

I keep checking to see if anyone has started this thread, so I guess I just will

How's it going?

I'm here, I'm here!

Good! It's going really well - we've had some weird poos and stuff, but that's all resolved now - got my baby smiling at me for real in the last few days: plus she now laughs in her sleep - it's so cute!

How about you?

Awwww....laughs in her sleep! How adorable!

We are just getting over colds here. My 3 year old is still really sick, but Eden is doing really well.

She keeps surprising me though! Nothing about her is what I expected. Her most current thing is that she so obviously prefers to sleep alone, and we don't own a crib. My son preferred to sleep all cuddled up next to someone (still does, actually).

Oh! And she's chubbed up! It's so funny how quickly they change, isn't it?

We just made it, the 31st.

I just caught Ben laughing in his sleep a few minutes ago! But then he frowned and gave a sad little cry. aww!

His cord stump is bleeding a bit, hope it falls off soon...

And I'm totally relieved because my postpartum high blood pressure seems to have resolved, I was back down to 108/72 today, whew! [it was 171/99 right after he was born] I was nauseated and dizzy yesterday, so it could have either meant I was back down and the medication was making it too low, or that it was even higher and I should have gone to the ER. :P

I'm here too!

We are doing pretty well. Some days are longer than others- yesterday she was awake all day and fussier than normal but we had a great nights (nursed 11, 2:45, 5:45). Today she's been pretty sleepy...we'll see how frequently she nurses tonight.

She smiles and frowns and makes all sorts of sounds in her sleep! I think she is the cutest baby I've ever seen I think she is super smart already. She is so alert and tracks people and objects and observes everything. She imitates some facial expressions (fun to try if you haven't...stick out your tongue or open your mouth wide to see if your babe will copy).

I have a friend coming in the morning to provide some support which is nice now that DH is at work. All our family just wants to hold the baby while she is sleeping peacefully and doesn't offer to help in any way. In fact they will come during meal times and not give us a chance to eat. My mom came today and held the baby while she slept, but didn't let me take advantage of the time to nap. She left when DD woke up and needed a diaper change and to nurse, ugh. I had hoped my family would bring more food, but after the first couple days home everyone stopped caring how I was and only want to see the baby. I am so happy I am nursing because it is an excuse to keep baby close by

I'm here too and doing well! While Sasha goes through some fussy periods when he's fighting sleep or trying to figure out the whole pooping stuff, he is overall an easygoing guy. I am actually getting enough sleep most of the days, and he is eating and gaining great.
He has been smiling more and more lately but it has been mostly to himself, until I came home from an outing tonight and he actually smiled at me for the first time. He was also intently focused on my face for a long time.
He is also holding his head better and better, he actually sits in the sling facing forward and I hardly have to support his head.
I carried him around the mall in a ring sling for hours today feeling somewhat smug about how unusual we looked. I was excited when another mama asked me where I got the sling.

MEcatlady17 sorry to hear about your family being not helpful, but at least you have a friend that can help out. Hopefully it'll get easier as time passes.

akat yay on the BP resolving, and congratulations on your LO!!!

Isn't it the fun time? They change so much everyday! I can't believe Sasha is 5 and a half weeks already!!! Just recently I couldn't even imagine being a parent.

I'm here! Orrin is doing great; nursing lots, sleeping fairly well, no fussy periods so far. He's a really mellow baby, it's kind of nice. DD is nursing almost as much as the baby. She's waking up as often as he is at night, and won't settle unless she nurses first. DH is on my last nerve, but he's actually being pretty helpful and good with the kids and he's bringing me food and drinks while I spend hours on end nursing... but he also keeps touching me. Lots of hugs and kisses. I am totally touched out. I sort of resent both kids at this point for their constant demands on me. Hoping that gets better soon...

any c-section recoverers out there?

Does your lower back hurt as much as mine? I pretty much can't wear Ben...which is fine, I either put him down asleep, give him to his dad, or just sit and hold him. But I was hoping to bite the bullet and wear him and keep my strength built up for wearing him once he starts getting heavy. But I just can't hack it - the couple days I've worn him for a little while, my back h.u.r.t.s. the next couple days.

Hi there! It's nice to see you all here!

Theo is going on four weeks, sleeping all the time, putting on weight like crazy. I bet he's already 11 lbs. He rarely cries, but we need to get some sort of swing/seat so that we can put him down while awake.

Akat--I am a c-section recover, and I've been taking a walk with the Moby regularly. And come to think of it, my lower back is kind of twinging right now. My main problem is with my wrists, though--confirmed tendonitis. Boo. Can't hold my own baby without pain.

Here's a recent picture, and one of him with his papa.

Truman will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. We seem to be adjusting more each day. I'm wondering if we forgot how exhausting a newborn is or if he really is more high maintenence than his sister was at his age. She was SUCH a mellow baby. He has incredible fussy periods, where it's not just fussing, it's full on crying and he is only soothed by being held and walking around. He does not go to sleep easily at night which makes the nights seem to last forever and then morning comes way too soon. He is sleeping about 4 hour stretches right now. I feel like my entire day is feeding him and then trying to soothe him from his fussy periods. I'm really hoping we turn a curve soon because I'm really nervous about going back to work at 6 weeks. Breastfeeding was a real challenge the first week & a half but each day it is getting better & better. I'll be happy when we can work out the side laying position, that will really help with those night feedings.

Glad to hear that everyone's babies are being pleasant for their mommies!! :smile

Here's a video of Bella yesterday morning first thing - well, 8.30am. She'd just woken up and she's SO smiley and expression-full (I know that's not a real word!) before her first morning feed! So I popped the night vision on my camera and video'd her...

Bella in the morning

It's basically a bunch of baby-mama lingo and silly faces. But she is cute though...

Sharlla - Pandora - awesomeness! I love slinging Bella about!

Brandy - Eden is sooo cute!

Aloya - Theo is just gorgeous....

My heart is melting with all these babies! XXXX
