excessive sweating

I started sweating a lot when I was 13. I got my first period that summer, and started sweating constantly the next school year- I don't know if that has anything to do with it, though.

I know it's part stress/anxiety related because the more I think about it or worry about sweating it kicks into high gear. Even now in the winter I constantly have pit stains! my hands and feet get clammy a lot, but it's mostly my underarms. I've tried everything- deodorant, crystals, anti-persperant... the works. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I wish I had an answer for you.. all I can say is I'm right there with you, and subbing in case someone else knows something I don't!

Drysol works for me, but it makes me itch like crazy, plus I'm worried that it's not the healthiest choice.

maybe hyperhidrosis? I know odaban is recommended, but I honestly haven't looked into the ingredients, so not sure how 'safe' it is.

It could be dietary or thyroid related, among numerous other underlying causes - so I would suggest talking to your health care provider to have testing done, just in case.

I've considered changing up my diet but we're going on vacation next week so now isn't the best time to make a drastic change.

I used Drysol for a while. It didn't really help and it made me itch like crazy as well!

I use Certain Dry, which works really well.

As a child, I used these wierd battery-operated things - like plastic plates with cotton or felt pads, soaked with water, designed to somehow electrically shock your sweat glands. Google tells me this is iontophoresis. It was not terribly effective for me then, but since 25+ years have passed, probably technology has improved.

Drysol has to be applied a certain way to work. I am putting it out there in case you haven't applied it this way: Basically you bathe, then make sure your underarms are totally dry. I usually used a hair dryer on the cool setting. Then apply it, wait until it turns white, then wrap the area either with saran wrap or a very tight tee shirt.

Shower again the next morning.

It worked very well for me. It was the only thing that stopped the sweating. But only if I applied it correctly, the other times it would not work. Also, you might have to reapply for several days in a row to get results. But normally once was enough for me to last several months.

When ever I used Drysol, my hands would sweat through the Drysol. I'd like to know the cause and cure for this. I hate having sweaty hands. I've had this since I was about 7 years old.
