Adjusting latch after teeth....

My DD is almost 13 months old and just now has 3 teeth, working on a 4th one. Her top two teeth are not even halfway through- one of them just broke through the gums a couple days ago, the other over a month ago. Overall she seems to be a very slow teether.

My issue is this- suddenly today at naptime I could feel her top teeth when she nurses....really not only feel them, but I had an indent where her teeth were. I popped her off a few times and we readjusted, but I just couldn't get the pain to go away- it felt like a needle being stabbed into my nipple.
Cut to this evening when she nursed down to sleep- this time we were side-laying in bed (at naptime we were nursing in the rocker), and it hurts again (that side is her fall asleep booby for some reason). I try to ignore it and just let her nurse until she popped off on her own and rolled over to finish falling asleep. I look at my wounded nipple- and I have a blister now where her top teeth hit My other breast so far is being spared any pain/damage.

So I need to know if anyone else had this issue (I'm sure it's not uncommon), and of so how long did it take your toddler to get used to the teeth and adjust their latch accordingly?

I'm also going to change up the positions we nurse in on that side to keep her teeth from always hitting in the same spots.

Any other advice on how to help that breast heal in-between nursings?

I'm sorry. I had a fair bit of discomfort during teething times, but no blisters. I found my child would try to pull away and I did the best I could to get them latched like normal (or normal enough so it wouldn't HURT but might just be a bit irritating).

The latch does get better once the teeth are in.

Something for your child to soothe teething pain might help with latch issues.
