This middle-of-the-night nursing marathon is getting the best of both of us

My 19-month-old DD and I both had the stomach flu about a week ago. For the last three nights, she has nursed and nursed and nursed, culminating in a 2+ hour session that starts between 3:30 and 4 am. I am sure this started because she needs to catch back up after the stomach flu, but I am getting worried that it is going to continue. I need the sleep; I WOH part time and have a lot of related work to do at home, too, so napping with her can rarely happen, and I need my brain to be at its best for my work. She needs the sleep, too, as she has been incredibly crabby and prone to meltdowns the last two days (and she's usually so happy and calm). I am also desperate for my fertility to really return, and I can't imagine this is helping.

How long do I give this before I try to make changes? I've never really pushed her not to nurse at night, but I have considered nightweaning for multiple reasons, and now I'm concerned that this will become her new normal. I would rather not nightwean, but if this keeps up I may have to. If I do have to make changes, what do I do? I know it's only been a few days, but I am exhausted and would love some input/ideas.

I'd give it a week or so and then reevaluate.

I don't know if this will help, but DD has become a nursing machine at night the last week or so, and we haven't been sick. She has been SO clingy too. I'm wondering if it's the age.
