temping question

i've noticed that if i leave my thermometer in for a few minutes after it beeps, the temp will keep going up....usually at *least* 2 tenths of a degree (sometimes more), and then it will stabilize and stop going up after a while. which temps would you record on your chart? the higher ones after a longer in-mouth period or the lower ones that show right at the beep? does it really matter as long as i am doing the same thing every day?

My thermometer does this too. The one after the beep is the 'quick temperature' that was advertised on the packaging and the second one is it's 'final answer' so to speak. I've always recorded the second one on my charts. I trust it more and I get a few more minutes under the warm blankets, so its win-win for me. I'm not sure if it matters which one you take though, so long as you are consistent. You could always chart both temps for a month and see if you still get the same pattern.

I agree with Teetina. Pick one or the other to use consistently, and chart both if you feel like it. What you don't want to do is start using the second temp mid-cycle. That could show a false temp shift - same reason you don't want to switch from oral to vaginal temping mid-cycle.

These are the kind of thermometer I loved as a child. I could get out of school any day I wanted
