Nursing after adenoid surgery

How long after an adenoid removal can my son nurse? I want to be armed with this information before I talk to the ENT nurses about it. My son, Cohen, is almost 21 months and of course he doesn't *need* to nurse but it's a great source of comfort to him and I've never had to with hold that from him - except for when he had his first set of tubes placed and that was hEll. He screamed for 2 hours straight while we were in pre-op and the whole way there. So I am feeling a ton of anxiety about not being able to nurse more than the procedure itself! I know that probably sounds sad but it's going to be really hard to say no when I know he won't understand and he will just want his Mama's milk comfort snuggles. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Haley

If you were at my hospital I would say as soon as he is awake enough after surgery. We give kids fluids right after so I don't see why nursing would be any different!

I was wondering about the vacuum created when a little one has latched and is sucking. Like could he pull off his scabs back there with sucking? All the info I've found online is about tonsils and adenoids removed together so I'm not sure if the guidelines are pertinent to just adenoid removal as well.

Of course now I'm contemplating putting off the surgery to give more time for the essential oils and lymph drainage massage to work.....

But thanks for the info! It's what I want to hear
