what kind of "activities" do you do with your babies?

dd is almost 7 mo... she's not mobile yet but can sit up unassisted and is dangerously close to crawling. i feel like there must be things i can do with her during the day that i'm not.... maybe it's just that i'm over winter and being cooped up inside....

so, how do you and baby pass the days?

my son is about 8 months, but a preemie, and sounds right about at the level of your daughter. if we have a day with nothing scheduled this is how it usually goes: it is pretty cold here (connecticut), but we do bundle up and go for walks when it is sunny, which he loves. we hang out on a sheet on the floor and i put toys out of his reach to encourage him to get to them. he can spend about 1/2 an hour playing with cheerio type cereal, practicing picking it up - sometimes it makes it into his mouth, sometimes not. he loves to take a bath with me and just play in the water (doesn't really care about bath toys yet, just wants to put everything in his mouth). i read stories to him a little bit, although he's not that into it yet, he still enjoys it. he loves to dance - i hold him and put on music and we dance a lot. other than that he likes me to just wear him and do stuff around the house - cook, laundry, unfortunately he only really likes it if i'm standing & moving around when wearing him (unless he's nursing, which he still does super frequently). then we usually have a daily excursion into the outside world, even if it's just to get one thing from the grocery store.

My 9.5mo doesn't crawl yet. Things we do include taking a walk, play on the floor together, read to him while he plays on the floor, and he plays independently for a little bit while I'm on the computer (15-20 min maybe?). I'll take him around the house with me while I do things, like making the bed, doing laundry, vacuuming, etc. I'll carry him then set him down and talk to him and give him a toy while I do a particular thing. He'll hang out in his exercauser happily for a little while in the kitchen while I work on dinner. I'll hold him while I can to do some things in the kitchen, he loves to be held and just watch whatever I'm doing or look eagerly ahead as we walk around the house or go down the stairs.

HTH.

My son is 10 months old and started crawling at 6 months. But even before crawling, I set up activities to do during the winter so I could get out as much as possible. We still go for walks in the morning in the ergo if it's not too cold/windy. Tuesdays and Thursdays we have a playgroup for 2 hours in the afternoon. Fridays there is story time at the local library. We just finished a 5 week swim class, and we still go to the YMCA for family swim sometimes. When we are home, I alternate between playing with him on the floor, putting him in his jumper/rocking chair/high chair, carrying him on my back in the ergo while I do housework, and reading to him. Now that he's mobile it's a lot easier to just let him play, and he's also eating solids, so meal time takes up quite a bit of time. But I try to get out of the house at least once a day. Otherwise, I feel too cooped up and go nuts!
