Pest control around gardens

I'm in Phoenix and pest control has been a struggle for us. I don't really care about most pests but, we get scorpions. So, because I can not tolerate scorpions, we have a pest control company.

I've always asked them to stay away from the raised garden bed.

The problem is that we've now added another very large raised garden bed, moved the compost tumbler next to the house (which is where they normally spray) and have added multiple blueberry and raspberry bushes.

So, I don't know what to do about pest control at this point.

I really want to change out most of my back yard landscaping to trees and bushes that produce food but, the scorpion thing...... I can not have scorpions in my house. I just can't.

So, how do you handle pest control when you have a yard full of food?

The trick is to make the yard less inviting for the critters to hang out. I found this llink for natural scorpion control that includes ways to keep them from coming into your house.

I personally would never grow food anywhere near where bug spray is used. I encourage you to try other methods for keeping scorpions away from your living space.
