Did your midwife stitch your tears? - Page 3

First birth, tiny skid mark, OB offered to stitch but I declined, hurt like a ***** when I peed (even with the peri bottle) but it all healed up fine.

Second birth, even tinier skid mark but it wouldn't stop oozing, CNM suggested a few stitches and I agreed (it was pretty funny; she brought a camping head lamp with her to use! Asked her if she was going spelunking afterward ). I was really squeamish about her stitching. But she numbed me up well, my doula distracted me and it was great. Didn't hurt at all when I peed! Wish I would've stitched the 1st time.

And, in case anyone gets crazy ideas, someone mentioned earlier using "superglue" like they do in the ER... it's not real superglue like from Target, but medical grade glue. Has anyone out there had their tears glued shut? Wonder how that works in such a, um, moist area?

my cpm does sutures. it was one of my major considerations when I hired her... I had 2nd degree tears with ds and dd1 (OB attended births) and had a feeling that I would need them again. when dd2 was born, we didn't have time for slow crowning as the placenta had partially abrupted and I was hemorrhaging. I had a deep 2nd degree tear (worst of the tears) and it took her the better part of two hours to stitch it up. It healed wonderfully - tbh, better than the stitching that my OBs did.

Dont bother with the fayettevile mws, they won't attend an hbac. Looks like my mw is about 2 1/2 hours away from you, but she is closer to you than the fayetteville mws. If you want her info pm me, she might come to you or maybe you could meet in the middle at a hotel (better than a hospital at least), or maybe have some advice for you either way

My midwife did a great job stitching me all three times. It is sooooo worth it, they healed perfectly.

I'm wondering if because she is unlicensed, she doesn't suture, because that could be construed as being a medical procedure that could increase her charges in the event she is "caught" and charged with something.
I wouldn't use a MW that didn't suture..that's insane. Why even use her? So she can sit there and WATCH you birth? Why not just UC??
Btw, my midwife did a lot more than stitch me up! We had shoulder dystocia with 2 of my 3 and she had a lot more to do than sit back and watch! Thank God for midwives!!

My midwife sutures tears. However, I didn't tear with either of my births with her, so it was never an issue.
